: Howdy. Many may already know this, but I just realized it and found it interesting. A friend and I were just sifting through some D.T. lyrics, and we read and analized "Edenspring". It's about getting drunk, which is funny, because it is one of the most emotional songs on The Gallery. If you don't believe me, read the lyrics for yourselves. "Bacchi gates bid me welcome", "Drench logic, drench judgement", "the liquid light shares it's grandeur". D.T. can find a poetic way to describe everything. :) Yeah, you got a point - but at the same time you missed something: The crucial thing in the song is not getting drunk, but the desperate need of the songs person to change the world ("oh blissful rapture flee from me") - and when he realizes he can't change the world, he tries to change his own vision of the world. So, he gets drunk to sense his surroundings in a new way ("New logic brought upon the remains of his land"), believing that the previous vision was false and deceiving. The one thing the song doesn't clearly reveal (at least to me) is if the "new" vision of his is really truly better than the previous one (he certainly believes it to be so: "What now must burn - shall with newfound strength emerge"). And is the "land" really different, if only the one who senses it, is different? -Villain ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
