The war at the Gulf was going on as worst. No one dared to take part in the Winter Universiade from Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Still I had decided to go to Japan. I should have a two weeks visit from a gentleman at NRIM before my Japanese visit.
My journay begun with Sapporo at the island Hokkaido. During one week I tooked part in the Winter Universiade 1991. See my page of Sapporo.
The cause for me to travel towards Japan was a cooperation about levitation-technique with formal NRIM (National Research Institute for Metals) at Meguro-ku which today is a part of NIMS. I visit NRIM and tooked part in experiment with levitated melt (flying melt) with a temperature of 1600°C. I visit NKK, Kawasaki, Fuiji Electric Works and Tokyo University. Everywhere I met an open attitude. My Proffessor were appreciated and well known professor in Japan could be contributing and we have an attractive character for Japan. We have similary seasons and we living in oblong countries with the difference, less than 20% of Japan could be used for habitation. The Tech doct I visit at NRIM (present NIMS) told me that NRIM at visits of business were met with less open attitude. A reason could be that Sweden don't comprehend like rival in Japan. My host Tokyo showed me mythical mountain Fuji and spring close at hand. He told me that Japanese girls prefer 1.75 m or taller mens.
In picture below you have the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto and a Japanese Vase my parents got as a gift as a greeting.
