Yezo was the name for the mascot of the game, the biggest japanize brown bear who living on Hokkaido. The emblem on the flag of the Winter Universiade showing an U (symbol of power), a globe with five colour for five part of the world, snow crystal for snow and the colour blue for winter and youth. It was 1073 competitor and leader from 34 countries. I was the Competitor from Sweden, see copy from Ashi-Newsletter. The games showed and gaved me Japan with te-cermony, kimono's, several university friends, well organized games and plenty of memories..

In left picture shows the flag cermony for Sweden. I have on my right hand side the president of the Winter Universide, Hironoshin Furuhashi (JOC president), on the left side the girl who carried the Swedish flag during opening cermony and on the floor the girl who were chief over the swedish volontaires, Yuko Muto.
