Winter Universiade, Zakopane 1991

Every Winter Universiade is special. The special with Zakopane in Poland was the atmosphere of Tatra and the Cable car (Mountain Station) which could been taken from the movie "Örnästet" in Swedish. The Cable-Car itself gave the feeling. It was build before the second War. Zakopane was the first opening ceremony for me. It was a marvellous play with heavy fireworks.

Lech Walesa was President of the Committee of Honour of the winter Universiade Zakopane 1993 and president of the Polish Republic. "Sport means not only effort and competition. First and foremost it means persuit and trial of strength. Sport is a field of human self-realization."
