Polish Direct

Polish direct is intended for those who wish to learn the basics of Polish, and also gives a brief introduction to the cultural and business life of the country. Polish direct consists of a textbook and a videotape.

The film presents some typical situations, which a foreign businessperson may meet during his or her first contact with Poland. It is based on the Swedish businessman Erik Olsson, who arrives in Warsaw in order to find business partners. The film presents the Polish way of getting in touch with people, e g at the airport, the hotel, the bank, the restaurant, the dinner invitation. The film also presents some well-known sites and settings in the capital.

The film was directed by Stanislaw Pieniak and was filmed in Warsaw with Polish actors. Pieniak has directed more than 40 films and plays for the Polish television.

The dialogues in the film are all introduced in the textbook, which also includes phrases, a basic vocabulary, necessary grammatical explanations and exercises. Short texts in English introduce the reader to Polish culture, geography and history. The vocabulary includes about 700 different words, as well as some business terminology.
