- Programming:
Languages: mainly C and C++. I also defend myself quite well on
Java, Pascal and some assembler but I haven't done much on those languages
lately.
Platforms: now is only on Windows 9X. In the past I have done quite
some development on UNIX and a bit on Macintosh (my first graphical programming
steps). - Web Design: I try to keep some basic skills on
this field. Some years ago I was quite good for the tools that where available
at that time (early CGI, very early JavaScript, PERL, etc.), but in the last
few years the Web has gone crazy and I have not had time to update myself.
Now I am trying to relearn JavaScript and add some fancy things to my homepage
with the help of Java applets. This may take some time though :-)
- Consulting:
Areas: my two other hobbies above, 3G mobile communication systems
and other issues on the telecom arena.
- Programming and Web design: beginners may find a few
interesting things in this link and I am willing to support you to some degree
via e-mail.
- 3G mobile systems: I have been involved in WCDMA / UMTS
since the first experimental systems that actually worked in the field. I
have been working in areas such as product management, systems management
and standardization, covering both the core network and radio access network.
Now I am working on inter-operability testing (IoT), to guarantee proper interworking
with other network and terminal suppliers.
I know a bit of 2G systems like GSM or PDC, and try to keep updated on
2.5G technologies like GPRS and EDGE, although I am not an expert on those
technologies. For details check my CV here
.
I have only basic knowledge of the American 2G (TDMA, CDMAone) and 3G systems
(CDMA2000), but I know where to find some open information if you need it.
- Broadband networks
:
for some time I did extensive studies on ATM traffic management and ATM
signalling. From 1997 I have been quite active in the standardization of
the AAL2 signalling protocol and some service specific sublayers for AAL2
(I even became the editor of I.366.1 in ITU-T). I have also been quite active
in standardization of BICC CS 1 and CS 2 signalling in ITU-T, helped to its
adoption by 3GPP and contributed significatly to include support for IP transport
inside BICC CS2. Most of my pattents are actually in these areas.
Disclaimer: I offer all this consultancy service
for free to try to help others understand certain technologies and get started
with them. I always try to provide accurate and up to date information but
I can not guarantee that this is always the case, since I am only fully updated
on the UMTS side of this consulting service.
Things I won't do: this is a service that I
provide as a hobby, therefore I will not give you any undisclosed information
regarding the activities of the company
I work for in the 3G or any other area. I also provide this service exclusively
in my spare time in which I do quite some other things as well, so do not
always expect a fast response time.
