Two Sounds Ensemble

Two Sounds Ensemble came into existence around autumn 2002 with the
idea of playing jazz standards, but from the first sprung notes all tunes were
laid aside in favour of pure improvisation. Since then the duo has followed their
chosen path and always begun in the unmade and concluded in the unfinished.
A figuring out of the music by Two Sounds Ensemble yields lines leading to
jazz and free improvisation, while other timbres give way to a near neo-classical
reference, all melted together in the final mix.

Both musicians have a mutual background in jazz, improvisation and rock and
their fingers in many different projects. Simonsson's main line is his own jazz
trio Saga, which recently released its debut “Färger” on einnicken records.
Wistrand mostly performs with his own free jazz quartet Nods Off, which have one
album and two EP’s out on einnicken records.

In spring 2004 the first album by Two Sounds Ensemble entitled “Inversions”
was released on einnicken records containing three quarter of an hour’s recently
recorded improvisations.
