Welcome to My tiny Place

in CyberSpace...

Hope you'll enjoy staying for a while...

* * *

My name is Emmy and I live with my family - spouse and three children age 10 - 18 years - in the south of Sweden. Since my surname is not very common over here either (in fact it caused me quite a few tears when I grew up), I thought I'd let it serve for a good purpose - just for pleasure - by featuring a few things that _I_ think deserve getting an "Emmy Award"...

You will find that my choises do not only cover TV-programs but also some books and other things. These are MY choises - hope you'll find some of them to your liking too...

My first choise would be giving my award to the late

Gene Roddenberry

...and his original StarTrek crew. I know the episode called "The Tholian Web" was nominated for the real award... I myself think there are a number of those old episodes that made a big impression on me - and still do... They sure have played a big part in leading us into "Boldly going where no man has gone before" - like myself, sitting here playing with the computer just like Mr Spock...

Now - who else would deserve being awarded?

Miss Barbie

...who has managed to stay on top for so long without ageing the least. It's quite remarkable for a doll staying so popular for such a long time. She reminds me of an actress who also seemed to get more beautiful by age: Barbara Stanwyck. Unfortunately I have no picture of her - but I think they could very well share the same award.

A pair who also deserve an Emmy are my favorit couple

Pettson and his cat Findus

...and of course their author and illustrator Sven Nordqvist. Pettson and Findus live way out in the country in mid Sweden. Since the old man is living by himself he uses to talk to his cat who - with the mind of a young boy - talks back! It's a wonderful story, easy to identify yourself with, and this far there are 8 books written about them. Try asking for them at your local library! Pettson and Findus also have their own web-pages at: www.pettson.gammafon.se. Unfortunately you'll have to do with the "native tongue" - they're still only in Swedish...

(By the way - should by chance any authorized American publisher be interrested in getting help translating the stories I'd be more than happy to assist... The Swedish publisher's name and address is: Opal Bokförlag, Box 20113, S161 02 Bromma, Sweden.)

Someone who's certain to get my award is

Santa Claus

...or Rick Blackburn which is his "alias"... Just kidding... Rick is a very good friend of mine - a Trekkie and Science Fiction writer - with a lot of other qualities as well. This is the best picture I have of him - don't you think he looks great? If you think you would like to get to know him better, try visiting his pages at: home.earthlink.net/~startrek76/index.html

Finally I would like to award my now 18 year old son

Sebastian (at 12)

... an ever cleverer computer-whiz without whom I couldn't have gotten this show on the road. He'll probably get furious when he sees this picture - but this is just what he's like - a real nice, clever and gentle but very serious young man... He's deep into Fantasy litterature and has his own page at: www.geocities.com/Area51/Vault/5638/index.html.
