Portrait
Portrait: A neat and refined smooth-coated dog of tremendous musculature and accompanying strength and confidence. The head is short with pronounced cheek muscles and distinct stop. The medium-sized ears are rose or half-prick-they are never cropped. The body is close coupled, with a level topline and a wide front. The coat is smooth, short and close lying. Red, fawn, white, black or blue or any combination of these colors with white comprise the color variations. Height: 36-42cm. Weight:11-17,5 kg.
Development: Squirming and squirting, the rhythmic disfiguring and dismembering of rats, rats, rats in the choppers of champion terrier-bred chompers was a popular pastime of British working classes in the 19th century, who cringed in the putrid excitement of the over-piling vermin carnage. The Staffordshire was bred to participate in this "sport" as well as in dog fights. The outlawing of both these dubious diversions ushered the staff out of the pits and into the more respectable arena of the show ring. This dog is smaller than the American Staffordshire Terrier, his close relative.
Recognition: FCI, AKC, UKC, KCGB, CKC, ANKC
Character: Although there is a tendency to joust with fellow canines, this is one of the friendliest of man´s best friends. His devotion and faithfulness are proverbial. If properly reared, he is an affectionate, outgoing, even witty pet that promises years of delight."
