- Welcome to our homepage!
- about Stytingmountainarea,
Norrbäck, and Uttermangården.
To northern Sweden, the central part of southern Lapland called the
Styttingmountain. A lowrange mountain between
450 up to 717 meter above sealevel. This is an area containing wide spruceforests and
small villages scattered in the hillsides. In 1671 a man called Jonas Gädda
(Pike) was strolling in the area inventing where to find places to settle.
There were only laplenders in this area at that time. The colonisation
started at about 1750. Our village Norrbäck is in the cental part
of the Stytingmountain and we have the steep northern side of mount Alsberget
seven kilometers south of the village. People came here in 1809, a
man Per Anderson Utterman, his vife and 10 year old son. They broke the
land and made their living and now 6 generations have been in the village.
Our villagecenter, Uttermangarden was
built in 1992. It is fully equipped, 20m x 8 m in area, a very nice place
and during the Summer we have a Summercafé for tourist. People from
the village keep the café open, and serve visiters with only homemade
bakery and exellent coffee or tea. If you want you can walk along the hill,
Kamen and read about our ancestors struggle for life. We also exhibit natural
paintings of very high quality (some of the most skilful artists in
Sweden) and also nature photography and some handicraft.
Uttermangarden also is a Natureschool for both children and teachers.
We can also arrange excursions in the area for groups that want
to experience what the nature is like in the surroundings. Take a look
at the Swedish homepages and click around and you will find at least pictures
that might interest you even some information in English.
If you pay us a visit you will find an area with very interesting nature,
culture, and how we try to develop our Stytingmountaincountry.
