Layout över trädgården.... Our garden layout
Ursäkta den dåliga kvaliteten på bilden... Vi ämnar rätta till detta vid tillfälle...
Vi har lagt upp trädgården efter ett fritt mönster. Mycket fritt inspirerade av japansk trädgårdskonst och den japanska te-trädgården som bakgrundstanke...Där ordet "stig" står börjar man "vandringen" genom trädgården. I början till höger har vi en rhododendronbänk med inslag av olika kalkskyende perenner som tex. Kambräken och Meconopsis. (Vi har sammanlagt drygt tiotalet arter och hybrider av Rhododendron i vår trägård.) Stigen börjar som en trallgång och leder mellan buskar (Philadelphia spp.) till en mossbeklädd trappa under en hög ädelgran av okänd art. Till höger vid trappan står en japansk stenlykta som med ett fladdrande sken ger ett behagligt ljus på trappstegen sena kvällar. Nedanför trappan börjar en grusgång med rejält tilltagna trampstenar på behagligt stigavstånd från varandra. Längre till vänster från lyktan räknat , lätt dålt av grönska , står ett vattenspels arrangemang med en vattenpost av bambu. På båda sidor har vi lummig grönska som domineras av perenner av skilda slag. Vi är noga med att hålla en balanserad färgskala, som går från vitt till mörklila med en dominans kring olika nyanser av blått. Bladverk och bladens form har stor betydelse för oss...De enda undantagen står alpinerna för. Men deras älskvärda utseende och växtsätt, samt placeringen i tråg, gör att de inte stör intrycket av en harmonierande palett.
Vår trägård är på intet sätt färdig... (Vilken trägård är det förresten... Mycket arbete återstår till det att vi känner oss nöjda till fullo, men vi känner att vi är på rätt väg . Att ha en grundplan för hela trädgården känns bra och på intet sätt betungande... Ett tips för dem som rådvilla söker efter inspiration till en egen trädgård.)

We have made our garden very freely inspired by the Japanese tea-garden in mind. Any orthodox japanese garden conossieur might get something stuck in his throat if we claimed this to be a tea garden...Which we don't. But nevertheless, some attributes are present, and the overall "air" should leave us excused. The inspiration should be evident for an observer. The japanese have a very subtle way of presenting beauty..."shibusa" - they call it. Something inexplicably appealing that makes you want to return time and time again, to wiev what you fancy... There is no "western" word for it and the consept must be "felt" rather than understood. We have yet to experience "shibusa" in a western garden-design ... What the Japanese have perfected over centuries, we westerners are yet to discover. Where the word "stig" (Swedish for "path") stands, we begin our stroll into the garden. The first part of the path is of different sizes of tree-platforms, placed on stones of different sizes. To the right we have different Rhododendrons and Azaleas in a spagnum rich compost. Between the shrubs, we have planted ferns and Meconopsis of different species. When we reach the small square in the middle of the layout-scetsch . We stand on a moss-covered stone "stair" under a large spruce of unknown species. The small square is a Japanese stone-lantern in "Nishinoya" style. Further to the left, slightly covered in greenery, you can see a Kakehi-design with waterbasins of different sizes. Stepping stones stand up from a carpet of thyme that leads to the basins. If we step down from the stair- We enter the second portion of the garden -Our "inner"-garden , and a raked gravel path leads to our greenhouse ... You're not supposed to step on the gravel though, at convenient distances from each other, flat stone-slabs rise from the gravel and make the path. We find it very important that the colors of the flowers in the garden lend a harmony to each other and don't resemble a bowl of lettice and different vegetables. Blue - dominates the design, with tendensies to the lila - (violet) and white on the other hand. Foliage is important in our choise of plants. We don't tie ourselves up to try and copy a certain design (i.e. the japanese tea - garden) But the sence of tranquility,harmony and balance MUST be sensed in our efforts (atleast by ourselves) Otherwise we have failed... We feel that we are on the right track. But there is much, much more to be done before the balance is complete.
