Holland after most members are arrested on the outward ferry journey.
- 8th August 1994 - 'Live Forever', their
first Top 10 single, is released.
- 29th August 1994 - Oasis's debut album
'Definitely Maybe" released.
- September 1994 - An affrat at Newcastle
sees Oasis cut their set short after a stange invaider punches Noel in the eye
- October 1994 - 'Ciggarettes And Alcohol'
released.
- December 1994 - Christmas single 'Whatever'
released, and the following month becomes their first Top 3 entry.
1995
- 20 February 1995 - Oasis collect Brit Award
for Best Newcomers but are overshadowed by blur
- April 1995 - 'Some Might Say' enters the
chart at Number 1, just as the split with Tony McCarroll is announced. Alan White takes
over as drummer.
- 23rd June 1995 - Oasis headline the
Glastonbury Festival on Bonehead's 30th birthday.
- 14th August 1995 - 'Roll With It' released
in competition with Blurs 'Country House', which beats it to Number 1 the following week.
- 5th September 1995 - BBC Radio One
broadcasts a documentary on the band.
- September 1995 - Guigsy retires though
nervous exhaustion; replaced by Scott McLeod from the local ban 'the Ya-Yas'
- 2nd October 1995 - Second album '(Whats The
Story) Morning Glory' released. Its displaces Mariah Carey at Number 1 a week later.
- 30th October 1995 - Single 'Wonderwall'
released, rising to Number 2.
- 4th & 5th November 1995 - Oasis play
the biggest indoor concerts ever, held in the UK at Earls Court, London.
1996
- 19th February 1996 - Oasis scoop three Brit
awards: Best Band, Best Album (for 'Morning Glory') and Best Video (for 'Wonderwall').
- 19th February 1996 - Chart Topping single
'Dont Look Back in Anger' released.
- 20th April 1996 - 'Don't Look Back In
Anger' certified plantinum (600,000 sales) in the UK.
- 27th & 28th April 1996 - Two shows at
Manchester Citys Maine Road ground are recorded for possible furture release.
- 11th May 1996 - Noel declines an Ivor
Novello songwriting award as he had been co-nominated with rivals Blur.
- August 1996 - Oasis play giant UK dates at
Knebworth and Loch Lomand.
