The origin of Pacific's fishes
Scientists believe that the triangle formed by the Philippines, Peninsular
Malaysia and Papa New Guinea is where most of the Pacific's marine
organisms evolved before they spread out to colonize
other oceans.
This area has the widest variety of marine species in the world.

Endangered dolphins and whales
Studies by researches from the University of the Philippines in Manila have found 17 species of
whales and dolphins in Philippines waters, but numers are falling.
Particularly endangered spieces include the Bottlenose Dolpin, the Shot-Fines Pilot Whale, the Pygmy Killer Whale and the Humpback Whale.
