Tips & Tricks

When you're learning these tricks you shall use your left hand. Put your forefinger on the center of the board and your longfinger on the "tail". That is the back kick of the board. The nose is the front kick. I will mention the fingers as left and right in the description. All tricks need some patience and practice. You mustn't get angry if you can't get it to work, you just have to come up with an idea of what you are doing wrong, or what you have to do to make it right. No trick is impossible, it might happen that you'll come up with an idea how to make the trick easier, I've just tried to explain the basics on this page. Good luck!

Ollie

Place your fingers on the board. Press down the tail in the ground with your right finger, and when it hits the ground, move up your left finger while you're lifting up your hand high in the air. It can take some time too learn it, and I'm sure you'll find your own way of doing this trick. I suggest you learn this before moving on.

Kickstand

Ollie up to an edge of an object (Use a small object in the beginning) and land with the nose on it. Push down your left finger hard, and the board will stay in that position. Pull back the board again, and land.

Schove it

Place your fingers like an ordinary ollie, but when you're pressing down the tail, try to press it against you. The board will (hopefully) spin 180 degrees. Land on the board when it hits the ground. This trick can be done with 360 and 720 as well, if you practice enough.

Boardslide

Use an object like the one you used to do a kickstand, with an edge. Ollie up towards the edge, but spin your board 90 degrees and land on the edge with the center of the board. You will slide on the edge. Spin the board 90 degrees again, and land.

Grind

Ollie up to an object with an edge. Try landing on the edge between your wheels so the board will slide on the "pin". (the one the wheels are attached to) This isn't an easy trick, so have patience.

Kickflip

Put your fingers in ollie position. When you ollie up your board, try to make it flip towards you by using your left finger. Push it to the edge of the board to make it flip. When it has flipped around, land on it again. This is one of the hardest tricks, so practice a lot.

Heelflip

It's like a kickflip, but instead of flipping the board towards you, you flip it away from you.

360 flip

Make sure you know how to perform a kickflip and a 360 schove it before trying this trick. Put your fingers in ollie position. Ollie up the board and begin the 360 spin. When you do this, try to flip the board around with your left finger, so the board will spin 360 degrees and flip at the same time. I don't think this trick is that hard on fingerboard, it's actually easier than a kickflip. (That's what I think)

You now know the basics of fingerboard. You can now try performing the tricks on different ways, for example landing on your back wheels after an ollie, or make a 360 flip to grind. The choice is all yours!
