Welcome to this HTML-page.
This site was constructed for you all who want help with HTML and webdesign.
It dosent matter if you know just a little or if you are a newbie.
HTML = Hyper Transfer Markup Language
<Make a new HTML-document>
<Text>
<Images>
<Links>
<Scripts>
Make a new HTML-document
<HTML> (to webbrowser : this is a HTML-document)
<HEAD>
<TITLE> Title of your homepage </TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY BGCOLOR="XXXXXX" TEXT="XXXXXX" LINK="XXXXXX" VLINK="XXXXXX" ALINK="XXXXXX">
( XXXXXX have to be switched to Hexadecimales color sheets or in HTML 3.0 and later; white, black etc. )
BGCOLOR decides the background color.
TEXT decides the color of the text.
LINK decides wich color you links should have.
VLINK decides wich color the visited links should have.
ALINK decides the color of the link when pressing it.
Here you can put images text or what ever you like.
</BODY>
</HTML>
Text
This can be written after the <BODY> tag.
The easyiest way to make titles on the page is to use H[number], H stands for heading.
f.ex.
<H1>This is a title</H1>
<H2>This is a smaller title</H2>
<H3>This is a even smaller title</H3>
Etc. There are H1 - H6
To cange the size and look on the the text, use the <FONT> tag.
It can look like this:
<FONT SIZE=2>
Here you also can use 1 - 6, but in this case 6 is the biggest and 1 the smallest.
<FONT COLOR=Black>
Now the colors on the text becomes black. Sience HTML 3.0 you're able to use many colors when wirting.
<FONT FACE=Verdana>
Change the face of the text (in this case to Verdana). You can use all fonts but not everybody posses them. Use like Verdana, Arial, MS Sans.
<STYLE> tags. MSIE has been able to understand STYLE science version 3 and Netscape science version 4.
STYLE has to be written between the <HEAD> tag.
<STYLE>
<!-- hides for old browsers.
a{ text-decoration: none; } Takes away the line under all links on your page.
h1{ font-family: Arial; color: 000080; } Changes the face on H1 to Arial and the color to darkblue.
.test{ font-size: 4; font-family: Vedana; color: 800000; } If you write in a link-tag: CLASS="test".
//-->
</STYLE>
Images
This is a basic tag for having a pic on your page:
<IMG SRC="image.jpg">
If you are using the pic as a link, you'll notice that you're getting a frame around it. If you want to take it away do the following:
<IMG SRC="image.jpg" BORDER=0>
This is a good example:
<A HREF="sidan.htm"><IMG SRC="linkimage.jpg" BORDER=0></A>
Tip / Images
If you have a small pic, 100 x 100 or less, save it in GIF-format.
JPEG, JPG has more colors than GIF, therefor you should always save pics with many colors in this format. But I recomend to save most of your pictures in GIF, it decreases the load time of the page.
Links
Links are like the most useful thing in HTML.
This is an exempel how it could look like:
<A HREF="http://www.server.com/~name/"> Click </A>
use this option if you want to link something in the same catalog:
<A HREF="page2.htm">page2</a>
E-Mail links
<A HREF="mailto:name.lastname@domain.com"> Mail Me </A>
To link something on the same page, use this commando :
<A HREF="#anchorname">
To use this commando you'll have to place an anchor somewere in the document. Do like this :
<A NAME="anchorname">Text</A>
Links Using Frames
If you are using frames these commandos can be useful.
for the link to break out of all frames : <A HREF="page.htm" target="_top">Click</A>
for the link to open in a new window : <A HREF="page.htm" target="_blank">Click</A>
for the link to open in the same frame : <A HREF="page.htm" target="_self">Click</A>
Scripts
This brings more life to your homepage.
An easy example of JavaScript
is to enter a easy commando in one or sevral link tags. The text your write will appear in status section in your browser. ( it will appear insted of the link address )
<a href="page.htm" onMouseOver="window.status='Click';return true"> Look in status </a>
