Accelerating Navigation
- A simple observation is that some of the folders in the storage are
accessed a lot more oftenly than others. The folder C:\My Documents
is likely to be used much more than say C:\Windows\Spool\Printers.
- It would be nice to have single-click access to such frequently used
folders (or two or three-click at least).
- To address this issue, the Location Bar was created.
It is a Probe component which contains shortcuts to folders and files of your choice.
Figure 1 : The Location Bar.

- All items on a Location Bar are available by single-clicking them.
For folders, this will navigate the active Folder Browser or Tree Browser to the clicked
folder. For files, it will open the particular file, which can be a program, a document,
or some other file type.
- The Location Bar is organized hierarchichally, where each Location
Bar in it's turn may have Popup Location Bars. In figure 1, the items with red triangles
are popup-items. When the red triangle is clicked, the Popup Location Bar appears.
- A Popup Location Bar can, for example, contain shortcuts to the most
important folders for a specific project, and possibly to the most important documents in
that project.
