Vad har man smart SMS till

SmartSMS is shareware. You can use SmartSMS in its unregistered state for 10 days, then you must pay the shareware fee or erase your copy. This program is fully functional but with a 10 sec startup delay. When you pay the shareware fee you get a code to "unlock" the program.

SmartSMS enables you to send Caller Group Graphic, Operator Logo and Ringtones to your Nokia phone. You don´t need a cabel or infrared connection. SmartSMS sends the ringtone, logo or groupgraphic as a ordinary SMS so you only need a modem or ISDN TA and a dial-up SMSC (SMS server) that supports the UCP protocol.

To start using the software, choose Settings and make sure the right comport for your modem is selected. Normaly you don´t have to change anything else. If you can´t get it to work, first read the FAQ and if that not helps, mail me and give me as much information as possible about your problem.

The default phonenumber to the SMSC is in Denmark (they deliver SMS to most countries around the world). If you want to use another SMSC, make sure you have the right number for dial-up access (you cannot use the same number as you use in the mobile phone).

Note: All numbers are in international format and if you live in the same country as the SMSC is located, the number must be changed to national format. To do that, replace the 00<country code> with a 0 (with some SMSC, just remove 00<country code> )
example:
You live in Sweden and want to use the Swedish SMSC, change the number to: 0740930000
You live in Norway and want to use Telenor, change the number to: 90002198

Some countries don´t use <00><country code> to dial international, for example Australia using 0011<country code> instead. If so, you have to change the Phonenumber to SMSC in that way. For Australia, the phonenumber to Denmark SMSC will be: 00114543625250

If someone knows a working SMSC number other than the above, I would be grateful if you send it to me.

To send a Operator Logo or Caller Group Graphic:

· Click Picture... and choose the file you want to send.

Fileformat supported is: bmp, jpg, gif, nol and ngg

The pictures should be in 2 colors only (black and white) and in the format: 72x14 pixles.

You will find a lot of ready made logos on the net if you do a search. But you can also make them yourself with a paintprogram like Paint Shop Pro or Windows Paint.

· Choose if you want to send the picture as an Operator Logo or a Caller Group Graphic.

If you choose Operator Logo, you also have to choose the Operator from the list.

· Type in the phonenumber in international format :

00<country code><phonenumber without initial 0>

(use 00 as international prefix, NOT +)

Example:

Your number is 0789123456 and you live in UK (country code = 44), enter the number like this:

0044789123456

To send a Ringtone:

· Click Ringtone... Paste the RTTTL formated ringtone in the textbox or choose Open file... to get the ringtone from file.

RTTTL (Ringing Tones text transfer language) is a language used for publishing ringing tones on web pages.

If you do a +ringtone +nokia search in for example Alta Vista, you will find hundreds of links to pages with ringtones in RTTTL format.

If you want to compose your own ringtone you can use a freeware program called Nokring. Homepage for Nokring is at:

· Click OK.

· Click Send Ringtone

Distribution

The unregistered version of SmartSMS can be distributed freely, uploaded on BBS and FTP sites, included as binary file in news areas, published on CD-ROM etc. as long as the package is distributed complete. No files must be removed or added. The package must not be modified in any ways. No charge must be taken for this package other than media and handling cost.
