WANTED
Someone to code a mixing AHI replayer (using the lowlevel API of AHI) that is able to mix virtually unlimited number of channels (but it may be optimized to play 1-8 channels). I (Fredrik) have experimented a bit with AHI but not getting it to work properly. Any contributions will be credited (not monetary though). Please send your contributions to fredrik.rambris@amiga.nu.

Introduction

Over the years the image tools have gotten better and better. The audio tools however has been left behind and mainly has been added abilities to load more file formats and a few more effects. Nothing really new. Being frustrated by this situation we long ago started scetching on an editor (inspired by Aegis AudioMaster) and made a working program in the only language we knew at the time, AMOS Professional, a BASIC-like language. We called it SampleMaster and was happy with that for a while. But as time progressed we felt the need to do more than editing the sound. Björn were getting really good at creating own sounds and instruments only by using wave primitives and some mixing in OctaMED. You can download and listen to some of them in the demo page. In the beginning of 1999 we both felt ready to actually start programming it in 'C'. It will first be developed for AmigaOS 3 but if we get the knowledge it will be ported to Linux and run under X.

What will it be?

We aim to create a program which will not only allow the user to edit audiofiles in may ways but also create and synthesize sounds wich will be hard to hear the differense from a sampled sound (well... there is always a considerable amount of noise in sampled sound which will not be generated ;-) ).
