The Scandinavian Pipe Band Championships 1999

During the weekend May 22-23 the Scandinavian Pipe Band Championships was once again held in Holbæk, Denmark. MPD could not, for various reasons, compete as a band, but placed third in grade 4 in a joint venture with the Helsinki Pipes & Drums. We also made an appearance in open grade with the Mayfly Pipes & Drums.

The leader of the band, P/M Mats d Hermansson, won the piobaireachd advanced competition, as he did previously at the CWC. Karin Berntzon placed second in slow air beginners, and Stefan Svensson came third in M/S/R Drumming. In addition we won the prestigious best bass and tenor section award (with an all MPD corpse) in our grade 4 appearance with the Helsinki Pipes & Drums.
