Theory In Practice

News

Updated by Henrik Ohlsson

April 01: Got some titles for you this time around: "Colonizing the Sun", "Psycomantum Litany", "Ashen Apocrypha" and "Illuminati". More titles coming soon, all the songs are finished (nine tracks all in all) and the album will be recorded in June as scheduled. The album title is chosen, it will be "Colonizing the Sun".

March 01: An early March update, I`m sure you don`t mind?! Anyway, I want to inform you that a Forum has been created at: http://www.freeforums.com/forums/Theory%20In%20Practice%20Forum/

So now you can use that one for questions and stuff!

February 01: Compromises…the recording won`t take place until June this year, we wanted to record earlier (see: January news) and the label wanted us to record in August because of financial stuff. So a compromise was made, Peter negotiated and Listenable agreed to let the recording occur in June. There you have it! All the songs are just about finished, I`m just a little behind as far as lyrics goes. The ideas are there and fragments has been put to paper but I`ll put it all together in the next months. Expect something cool!!!

January 01: Did I hear someone utter a cry of impatience? Well, the tides are flowing towards a time of recording, as a matter of fact we were thinking of recording in April but Listenable wants to know about the recording 6-8 months in advance so there`s a slight problem here. We`ll see if we can talk them out of it. The new website is coming together but it`s not completed, it`s up to Martin to announce when it`s official. That`s about it for now, the next update will be here before you know it! I think.

August 00: Looks like I should have updated this page some time ago, eh? Well, that`s what happens when you have a lot of shit to do, things get delayed! Peter`s brother Patrik has been accepted to take on the drumming duties in T.I.P, he is also the drummer in a band called Azotic Reign. How did we finally succeed in becoming a full line-up then? The fact that the new songs are a bit more straight forward sounding, there`s five new songs now by the way, made it a whole lot easier! So now T.I.P isn`t a trio in practice anymore, we are finally a quartet. I won`t update this page monthly from now on, instead I`ll update it as soon as something cool happens. And that may be with longer or shorter intervals. See ya´!

*

June 00: Allrighty, some changes since last month. But hey, we`re talking T.I.P now, nothing remains the same from month to month! In that case we would risk stagnating and we don`t want that, do we? J Anyway, the session members are out of the picture and we will try something different, I`ll continue as a vocalist only and we will recruit a drummer instead. This way we`ll have the voice you can hear on the album instead of some other fuck doing it, O.K? So that`s what we`ll do. See you next month, take care!

*

May 00: O.K, it seems like we finally succeeded in getting session members for Theory In Practice! We met them today for the first time and we discussed which songs we would play live, we`ll start rehearsing with them in a week or so. Peter will be busy acting as a producer in the coming week for a local black metal band, it`s the first band to record an album in the Hangar 18 studio. Allright, so what are you waiting for? Write to Listenable and demand to see us live wherever you may live:

April 00: We got the CD`s this month and they look great, we also got the Japanese version and that was also cool as hell. Japan rules! There`s a little typo on the first edition of the Listenable version of "The Armageddon Theories", or more correctly there`s a liiittle mistake in song order. The first who sees it and signs the guestbook explaining what the error is will get a free T.I.P/Mutant poster in the mail. The thing is, you probably need the Pulverised version and compare the two to actually recognize the error (that way only a REAL fan will get the poster J ). Anyway, right now we`re searching hard for one or two session members to complete our live line-up `cause we really want to play live now. When we see our label mates Soilwork, Deranged, Grief of Emerald and others get the opportunity to play shows in Japan, Holland, France and so on, we obviously get a bit jealous. So, if YOU think you have what it takes then contact us!!!

March 00: Hi there Theory Maniacs! The album has come out steaming fresh out of the manufacturing plant, watch out! Haven`t seen the actual product myself since it was just shipped from England to France. The stickers I mentioned last month is delayed because they got fucked up at the place where they`re printed. They will be done, though, as soon as Abcess (Chris Reifert, the Autopsy legend`s "new" band. Now on Listenable.) releases their CD. It`s some economic thing that makes it better to print both Abcess and Theory In Practice stickers at the same time. I`ve done tons of phone interviews for magazines and radio stations concerning our project Mutant (see the Mutant homepage on our links-section) but since they always ask questions about T.I.P also, both bands kind of helps eachother. Cool, huh? Interviews should start coming in for T.I.P too as soon as the album is out for real. Another cool thing is that producer Neil Kernon is interested in working with us, the guy has been working with names like you wouldn`t believe. We`ll see what comes out of it.

February 00: As you surely have noticed, the graphics on this site has been improved. T.I.P has featured on a number of CD -compilations lately, giving the metal people an appetizer of the album. Speaking of that, everything regarding the album is ready (although the artwork took its arriving to France) and it should be on its way to the manufacturers in England. The release will take place in March, a couple of weeks after the release of the Mutant CD (see the Mutant homepage). Stickers and posters are being done as we speak, anybody want some of that stuff? Anything else? Well, we`re currently working on material for the next album and Peter has begun to put his studio together (see the link on the site). We still need a singer and a guitarist or a guy who can do both. If you think you can pull it off, contact us.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa*aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

January 00: Our site is in the process of being remade with better graphics and so on, you`ll notice when it`s finished! We got the frontcover artwork from Graal this week and it looks incredible!!! That guy sure knows what he`s doing. However, since the artwork took it`s time finishing (the booklet is still not finished) the album will be slightly delayed. Yeah I know, it happens to this band all the time... It won`t be a long delay though, the album will be out in March for sure. Our Japanese distributors Soundholic will release the album in Japan at the 25th of February no matter what, those guys are the coolest we`ve ever worked with. No bullshit or empty promises, they crush everyone with their accuracy and proffesionalism! Theory In Practice has now seriously gone into writing new songs and we`re rehearsing like never before. Check out the vote poll on the site and vote for your favourite song, that gives us a chance to see what songs we should play live in the future. Speaking of that, we still need a singer and a guitarist or a guy who can do both. If you think you can pull it off, contact us.

December 99: Here`s an earlier update than usual, after all you can never know what will happen when we enter the next millenium, right? We will keep Theory In Practice as our bandname after all and that puts an end to this constant bandname switching. We should never have changed it in the first place. Sincere apologies to anyone who went insane because of this bullshit (including ourselves).

There`s an interview in the latest issue of Metallian that tells you that the band`s name is Monument, also there`s some ads that says the same thing. BUT as you know, that information is wrong. Just pretend it says Theory In Practice instead :-).

The song "Dehumanized" will feature on some magazine comp.-CD`s in a near future.

Other than that there`s not much to report except for the fact that the CD will come out in the middle of February.

*

November 99:  We have decided NOT to use Rapture as bandname, we will use Monument instead.  This happened for different reasons which I´m tired of explaining, read any currently done interview and you`ll find out why (example: Metallian Magazine). Anyway, "The Arnageddon Theories" will be released in February 2000 and the license in Japan enables the CD to be found in 6000 shops over there! The artwork will be done by GRAAL (forget what I said last month, it didn`t work...) who did some killer stuff for our project Mutant and will hopefully come up with something just as great for Monument.

*

October 99:  Our bandname has changed from Theory In Practice to Rapture and we are now signed to Listenable records. "The Armageddon Theories"  is a new Listenable records priority release and will be re-released next year with different packaging and supported by massive distribution and promotion throughout the world, including Japan. The new artwork will be done by Chad at Digital Apocalypse.

*

September 99: O.K, now I`ll tell you a little bit more of what`s going on with Theory In Practice after the long awaited release of "The Armageddon Theories". We are most certainly leaving Pulverised records for another label if that label will buy us free from Pulverised, Roy has given them a price and we`re waiting for an answer. If this happens the band will change the bandname and "The Armageddon Theories" will be re-released under the brand of the new label.

Pretty exciting, huh?

*

August 99: On-line again! After some technical problems I`m finally able to do an up-date again. "The Armageddon Theories" has been released at last and things are happening with Theory In Practice. It is too soon to give anything away here though....

Roy of Pulverised will travel to Taiwan (!) at the 25th of September but until then you can order the album from Pulverised records: ashes@pacific.net.sg

Otherwise you`ll have to wait until the end of October.

*

June 99: O.K, the delays seems to be coming to an end, read for yourselves in an E-mail from Pulverised records:

"Hi Henrik,

We'll be sending the artwork to the printers this week together with the

Eternal Oath artwork because we were waiting for money to come in fromGermany. Apparently the money is in already so we can go ahead.

The Wait is finally over!!! The CD is defintely be out by this month. Willgive you an exact date in time to come.

Best regards,

Roy"

*

May 99: A delayed update but here it is anyway..... The release of the new album has been delayed AGAIN, apparently because some distributors hasn`t paid Pulverised records the money they owe them. Roy Yeo has promised that it will be released in late June/early July and we`re keeping our fingers crossed. We`re happy to see, in all the E-mails and stuff we read, that "Third Eye Function" still is an album that people listen to and talk about and that people seem to like the stuff from the new album that we`ve put out on this site. Thank you all!!! You`re making it worth to go through all this waiting!

*

April 99: Guess what! The release of "The Armageddon Theories" has been delayed again, surprising huh? The date we have been given now is the 28th of May, so we`ll just have to wait until then. We are receiving quite a few E-mails regarding everything from whether we will tour to where "Third Eye Function" can be found e.t.c. Most of these things is completely out of our hands and I advise you to E-mail Roy at Pulverised records regarding these things:

ashes@pacific.net.sg or royyeo@pacific.net.sg

*

March 99: This news-page celebrates its one year anniversary now! Roy Yeo has confirmed that "The Armageddon Theories"-CD will be released in April but the date is yet to be decided. Right now the photos are being scanned and stuff like that. What is happening besides this? Well, check out the Mutant homepage, we are busy as hell.

*

February 99: With some minor problems solved the mastering has been done and everything has been sent to the Pulverised office, word is out that the album will be released in April now so let`s hope for no more delays......

*

January 99: We got more things done than usual this month, The new band photos has been taken by Marie Larsson (who`s done photos for Morgana Lefay, Tad Morose and Averon in the past), the artwork has been selected from the finnish artist Juha Vuorma and we`ve booked time for mastering which will occur in a couple of weeks.

*

December 98: Roy and Pulverised records has promised to pick up the pace on their releases (there`s four albums in for release before ours...) and we`ll send them artwork and photos in February and hopefully the album will be released in March. From what I`ve heard the S.O.D-compilation is out so check that one out if you want an appetizer of the album (or just download the soundclips available here), also order the MUTANT-CD if you haven`t and check out the MUTANT-homepage.

*

November 98: The S.O.D Magazine compilation CD`s has been sent to the staff of S.O.D and will be available as soon as the next issue is released, we chose the track "Dehumanized" from the upcoming "The Armageddon Theories"-CD. Word is out that the album will be released in February `99 and since that is a few months into the future we haven`t taken any photos or decided which frontcover we`ll use, we have plenty of time to do that so to speak......

 *

October 98:  Soundclips for the new album has been up-loaded, CHECK IT OUT!!! Since Pulverised is a bit behind in their releasing schedule the release-date of  the new album is not decided yet. However, one track off the new album will feature on a compilation-CD for S.O.D, the american magazine. So check it out! While we wait for things to happen Peter and I is doing a little side project.

*

September 98: Theory In Practice has returned home from the recording of the second album which will be entitled "The Armageddon Theories". Everything went well and Tommy Tägtgren was an excellent producer, he really managed to get some order in our chaos so to speak! This album will kick the shit out of our previous CD that`s for sure. All that remains for us to do now is to find a front cover and take some band photos,  then we`ll send everything to our label who will hopefully get the album out as soon as possible.

*

August 98: All problems with our label are solved (we were thinking of leaving for Black Mark for a while...) and we`ll begin the recording of our second album this month, it seems like I will do the vocals because in the end Daniel has failed to fill the vocal-spot in Theory In Practice. Rock`n roll to death!!!

*

June 98: All the material for our up-coming album is finished and we`re rehearsing it as hell. We`re awaiting some signs of life from Pulverised records, we`ll have to get the dates for studio-payment and so on. We can`t do much else than rehearse until we have received confirmations from our label......

*

May 98: Almost all the material for the up-coming album has been written and a new singer has finally taken Johan`s spot. His name is Daniel Bryntse (Withered Beauty) and he is now learning our new material. Not an easy task for sure!!!

*

March 98:  We have just decided which studio we will record our second album in. We chose the Abyss studio where we recorded our "Submissive"-demo in 1995, it will be like returning home! Our second album is yet to be titled and we have not written all the material for it, however, one of the songs will be over twenty minutes long and divided into five parts. The lyrics for the song describes humanity`s departure from earth and the rise of a new life form, the change from our species to the other demands a lot of suffering and bloodshed on our part. Behold our future and shiver!
