I am Björn Nilsson, a freelancing designer specialising in patterns for wallpapers, floors, textiles etc.
I trained at 'Konstindustriskolan' (Arts&Crafts college) in Gothenburg 1977-81 and then started working for a firm of interior decorators where I remained until 1982 when I started freelancing. During this year I also worked for Dramaten (Royal Dramatic Theatre) and Operan (Royal Opera) in Stockholm where I patinated and hand-painted clothes.
In 1983 I began as a designer for Ecotapeter (Eco wallpapers) in Norrköping; I worked as an assistant to the head of the design department.
In 1985 Ecotapeter and I moved to Anneberg in Småland and I became responsible for the collections!
In 1987 I became a designer at Forbo Forshaga in Gothenburg.
In 1988 I was back at Ecotapeter again, working one week in Småland and the next one in Gothenburg.
In 1989 I started Svenska Idéer (Swedish Ideas) and began freelancing as a designer. I work for a large number of customers and I have e g a contract with my former employers Forbo Forshaga and Ecotapeter, for whom I make a number of collections each year

In my spare time - if I have any - I sit in front of my computer, surf the net, put up wallpaper, am a carpenter at my country-house, paint pictures, renovate furniture, mould pots, build cupboards, weed the vegetable garden or just take it easy in the hammock with a pear cider within easy reach.
