Despite of global slowdown in economy in 2001 Poland managed to maintain very positive tendencies in export development, industrial production and labour productivity. However, due to weaker economic growth and fast modernization of Polish industries situation on the labour market deteriorated and become the biggest challenge for the Government.

Inflow of Foreign Direct Investment remained high reaching in 2001 level of 7,1 bln US$ and the cumulative FDI exceeded 53 bln US$.

Both short- and long-term outlook for Polish economy remain favourable. GDP growth is projected to stay around 1 % this year and increase to 3% and 5% in next two years. Thanks to growing export trade deficit will decrease contributing to stability of public finances.

Year 2003 has already been announced by Polish Government as Swedish year in Polish foreign policy what means that Poland will be specially promoted in Sweden according to separate programme which is now under construction.

We do hope that next year will be the breaking year in our bilateral relations and by offering more information and contact possibilities will link business partners together.
