I run a BBS, called "CCS BBS", with two incoming lines, and 24 hour service,
phonenumbers are +46-510-25625 or +46-510-60462.
I currently use Intermail, but plan to change to
Binkley XE
, real soon now. Mainly because the development of Intermail seems to have
seased, and I'm not shore that it is Y2K compliant. I like Binkley because it's
free (ofcourse) and it seems to have everything you could wish for.
I use
Watergate
tosser, witch I switched to quite resently. Best thing I ever did! Beside from
all the usual things a tosser does, Watergate takes care of all that cumbersome
converting front and back if you want Email and News to your BBS. However it
does not transfer anything, so for this you need:
If you would like to fetch your fidomail on an FTP-site, you would need a
special program for that, I didn't find any to suit me, so i had to write one
myself
FidoFTP
.
To send Emails that Watergate converted, I use
NetMail
, it can read Watergate's SMTP-queue directly, it can also fetch email to put
in an smtp incoming queue, but Watergate cant read them (the wrk-file doesn't
have from: and to: tags that Watergate needs) so
To recive Emails i wrote my own program,
Wpop
, and it seems to be working ok.
To retrive Usenet news i use
Vsoup
, wich is Multithreaded, so it can retrive several groups at once, and you get
a great throughput. However, the downloaded files needs to be converted, this
is done by
xp2soup
.
I also use
TransX
to transfer mail-packets, attached to Emails.
Right now I use Remote Access 2.50, but since it's not Y2K compiant, I will change to Maximus , Indeed the Lanius corporation doesn't develop it anymore, but they released an Y2K-fix, and they plan to release the source-code under a GNU-license, so I belive it will prosper again.
