80's and Crimson does another change of members and also sound. I think this line-up
too lasted for about 3 albums but I'm not sure. Anyways they got a new singer here named
Adrian Belew, he does his thing real good and actually he plays the guitar also. I think
it's the first time Crimson used an extra guitarist besides Fripp. Crimson have had many
singers, those I've heard I like but I think my fave is Greg Lake from the first two albums.
If the vocalist has guitar duty too then a new bassist is needed. So they hired Tony Levin,
imo one of the best there is - he's mostly been a studio musician during his career, working
with lots of bands, Liquid Tension Experiment for example. His effort on this album is no
exception from his great work - for proof check out "Frame by frame", my god I dunno if I've
ever heard a man play the bass that fast (and good!).
So with the musicianship needed fulfilled, can the album be other than great? Or what do ya
say about Robert Fripp making elephant (!) sounds with his guitar in "Elephant talk"?
