Another great prog band out of England that I've come to love the last couple of weeks. However, King Crimson is more extreme than any other band I've encountered. If we put it this way: regular prog rock lies at the beginning of a road. Walk a couple of miles on that road, there you'll find King Crimson - one of the best but also weirdest bands in history.
"21st century schizoid man" opens this debut album of theirs, one of KC's heaviest songs, it's got distorted vocals and a great riff but also a wonderful solo by guitar god Robert Fripp. Then things turn softer with the ballad "I talk to the wind", the rest of the album is history. Mentionable is "Moonchild" which is a ballad at first but then turns into something very experimental, basically Fripp making strange sounds with the guitar. "The court of the crimson king" closes, a very tight and powerful one.
