After the boring E.P "From the cradle.." Cradle Of Filth is back and kicking, they've returned
to the "Dusk.." sound although many of the riffs are thrash metal-oriented but it's still
COF so don't worry. Their excellent drummer Nicholas is gone (ok I know he was already by
the time of the E.P), but when you hear the album you'll not spend many seconds missing him
cause the new guy, Adrian Erlandsson fron At The Gates, hits hard and fast just as expected
- I tell ya this is one hell of a drummer. Also Stuart, one of the guitarists, is replaced
by Paul, who I believe was a member of the band on the debut album, anyway now he's learned
his lesson so no complaints. They even have a new keyboardist, also he is doing a magnificent
job.
As usual with COF we get lots of great melodic leads and solos, and Dani does his thing love
it or hate it. The production is fantastic, much better than on "Cruelty.." but the most
surprising part of the whole thing, is that if we're talking quality of the album, I'd say
it's right up there with "Dusk and her embrace", so if that one's the best black metal album
of all time or something like that, this one would be number 2. So I guess you'd better buy it.
