"Ram it down" was pretty ok but NOW Priest do exactly what they're supposed to do and even more.
On this one (especially on the title track) they've become a bit more aggressive, but this
is still heavy metal. They fired the drummer Dave Holland and hired american Scott Travis
who already in the intro to the title track "Painkiller" shows how metal drumming is supposed
to be done. Halford is screaming like a banshee, and the guitars are updated - Tipton & Downing
play like never before, showing that this is Priest in the 90's not some fuckin remain from
the 70's or 80's.
After the title track things slow down a bit though, but keeping the heaviness of course.
When you've listened to all the tracks on the album, you slowly realise that there doesn't exist
one mistake on this record! Even the metal ballad "A touch of evil" will get you some chills
down the spine. Everything here is perfect, metal when it is at its peak.
A milestone in metal history, it won't get better than this.
The only sad thing about this is, that it's the last album with Halford. He left a couple of
years after this and formed FIGHT.
