    Rating:
The year after "Tales.." Blind Guardian did another album similar in style, called "Somewhere far beyond". Not much here you haven't heard before but still it's so damn good! Although they started to experiment a bit here with the acoustic elements, like in one of my absolute fave BG songs, "The bard's song (in the forest)". Ok "Lord of the rings" on "Tales.." was partly acoustic but here they have a 100% acoustic song for the first time, something we would see more of further on.
Many great tracks here, except from mentioned "The bard's song" you have "Time what is time" which imo is a masterpiece, and also "Theatre of pain", "The quest for Tanelorn" and the Queen (!) cover "Spread your wings". "Ashes to ashes" and the bag pipe instrumental "The piper's calling" could've been left out though.
