Metallica nämndes i ett avsnitt, 'The Trouble With Trillions', av 'The Simpsons' på TV3. Busschauffören Otto misstog kön för inlämning av deklarationen med att vara en kö för Metallica: "Hey man. Is this the line to Metallica?".

Huvudrollsinnehavaren (Jeff Bridges) han säger att han jobbat som roadie för Metallica på "The Sound of Speed Tour" eller något liknande och han säger att dom var ena fisförnäma jävlar.

THE LOST METALLICA SONGS

We've all heard the wild stories of the "missing" Metallica. It's finally been revealed that there are indeed TWO "lost" songs Metallica has recorded. During the Master Of Puppets recording sessions, Metallica recorded two covers songs: Diamond Head's "The Prince," which was later recorded at the beginning of the ...And Justice For All sessions, released as a b-side and bonus track, and is currently available on Garage Inc. The second song was Fang's "The Money Rolls In."

GUITAR WORLD POLL WINNERS

The March '99 issue of Guitar World announces their Readers Poll Winners for 1998. Metallica's Re-Load won both best Rock and Hard Rock/Metal Albums. James Hetfield won for "MVP," while Kirk won for best Rock guitar player.

GUILTY PLEASURES

The March '99 issue of Guitar World also includes James' "Guilty Pleasures." James' guilty pleasures include:

SONG It's Not Unusual by Tom Jones. James notes that he "actally went to see him concert last year, and the guy still has it. As cheesy as it is, the fucker can sing." He also says of Grope's version of ...And Justice For All on the Metal Militia tribute album, "I wish we'd done it that way."

Symfoni

Nyheter från olika källor angående symfoni-projektet.

Fans of the band will be overjoyed to know that they will be playing songs from their entire canon of work, including pieces that have never been performed live. The band is currently working with a list of 23 songs, trying to determine what will work with an orchestra, and what won't. Some songs currently up for debate are "Enter Sandman," "Devil's Dance," "Fight Fire With Fire," "Nothing Else Matters," and "Hero of the Day." And, if songwriters Hetfield and Ulrich have the time between now and April, they may even write a new song and debut it at the show. Don't worry if you're not in the Bay Area for the shows though. Metallica have promised they'll at least record them. If it sounds as good as expected, you know there'll be a live album released. [Daily Music]

"The dynamics of a lot of our songs have always lent themselves to dramatic interpretation," drummer Lars Ulrich said. "This is a chance for us to keep pushing the envelope and demonstrate once again the diversity of this band. It's always fun to turn a few heads in the process." "About a year and a half ago, Michael came to us with the proposal of taking Metallica's music and marrying it to the San Francisco Symphony," explained drummer Lars Ulrich. "We started meeting right after that and we all knew it was something we wanted to do. The only thing that was not quite figured out was the timing, because of our commitments over the last year. Now all those commitments are pretty much out of the way and April is penciled in." "The band plays full-tilt from the moment they walk out onstage, and the orchestra will play full-tilt from the moment we walk out onstage with them," Kamen said. "We will all be playing together, with the same amount of energy. This is letting Metallica be Metallica." Asked about how the band will keep their visual edge, vocalist James Hetfield joked, "We're going to change the name of the orchestra pit to the snake pit." "We're going to have a flaming violinist," bassist Jason Newsted added. "Michael's conductor stick is going to shoot flames," said guitarist Kirk Hammett. On a more serious note, the band welcomed the unpredictability the event would offer. "We don't know what's going to happen, which is the beauty of it," Hetfield said. "We're going to try to keep the flow of the set going. We're used to noise between songs, and I don't think it's going to be like that. We really don't know how it's going to be. I don't know if there's such things as intermissions at Metallica shows either, but you have to give people breaks. Someone in the orchestra might have to go to the bathroom." Ulrich added, "Metallica has been doing this for 18 years now and it's great to have an opportunity to be able to continue to go into areas that we've never been before. For me, that's the most fruitful thing of all. Walking into a room and not knowing your way around, meeting new people and collaborating and learning something new. That's the spirit of Metallica. We always take the musical side seriously. Anybody who knows Metallica knows we're that were all fairly light of nature, but always treat our music very respectfully." [Rocktropolis]

Summering

Cunning Stunts kan inte få annat än högsta betyg. Allt är av högklassig kvalité, från förpackning till bonus-reportagen. Metallica har satt standarden för hur en konsert-dvd ska se ut och fungera.

Efter betänketid kom jag på två saker att anmärka på och dessa är helt personliga:

- 19 månader. Så lång tid tog det från inspelning (maj -97) till släpp (dec-98). Det har ju hänt en hel del i Met-världen sen dess. Själv har jag sett dem 17 gånger under denna period. Kan bero på den nya tekniken.

- Bonusen. Reportagen som är med är mycket bra och roliga, som jag nämnt tidigare. Jag har haft turen att komma backstage vid flera tillfällen och har då fått en inblick i allt som sker där, därför tycker jag att man kunde ha haft med mycket mer som bonus. T.ex. kunde man gjort ett helt reportage i kronologisk ordning, från det lastbilarna når arenan, byggandet av scenen, vad medlemmarna gör under dagen, fans som väntar utaför arenan etc. till siste man lämnar arenen. Fann det lustigt att ingen av de högsta "hönsen" intervjuades (Mensch, Tony eller Patrick).

WWF & METALLICA?

From Pro Wrestling Inline and Mikey G.: "..WWF is currently in negotiations with Metallica, to just make a guest appearance, and MAYBE do a little Diddy at the beginning to kick off WM. And lastly, it is almost a lock, that Sarah Michelle Gellar will time keep a match."

UPDATE

Rumors continue to circulate that Metallica will perform the Star Spangled Banner for WrestleMania XV scheduled for March 28th in Philadelphia.

US WOODSTOCK?

Entertainment Weekly reports that Metallica may play the US version of Woodstock. Says Lars: If I was a betting man, I'd say we would probably play." The US version of Woodstock is set for July 23rd through 25th in the former Griffiss Airforce Base in Rome, New York. Metallica is already confirmed for the European Woodstock held July 16th through 18th in Wiener-Neustadt Austria.

US SHOWS?

Interviews with Ted Nugent reveal that he may be appearing with Metallica at more than one show next winter. There is rumor of a possibility of another holiday show in the San Francisco area!
