In Gävle Bo Linde worked as both a music teacher and a critic.

When listening to Linde's music today one may find it reminiscent of the works of Brahms but an even more important source of inspiration for Linde was the modern classical composers, such as Prokofiev, Britten and Bartok.

As a fourteen-year-old Linde wrote his first piano concerto. He sent it in to the college of music and was consequently accepted as the youngest pupil there to study composition under Lars-Erik Larsson. When Linde had reached the age of eighteen he wrote his first symphony. It is strongly saturated with emotion and it is a melodious composer with a firm sense of significance and atmosphere who steps forward to greet his listeners.

Towards the mid-50s the word romantic had almost become a term of abuse since the leading composers in Sweden were affected by the (Second) School of Vienna as well as the School of Darmstadt. Compared with this influence Linde came across as a romantic and on account of this he was more or less ostracized from the Swedish music society. And yet the musical compositions of Bo Linde today hold an important position among the works of his contemporaries.

My favourite:
Bo Lindes second piano concerto is without a doubt a masterpiece. It has been recorded by Caprice with Ingemar Hedwall and Göran W. Nilson. BUY IT!!!
