The purpose of this homepage is to point to the vast amount of incredibly good music that was written by Swedish composers during the 20th century. It was an exciting century which witnessed the birth and growth of a wide selection of musical styles and tone languages. The aim here is to present a number of Swedish composers, ranging from Ture Rangström and Adolf Wiklund to contemporary creators of music such as Anders Hillborg and Karin Rehnqvist. But this page will also be about various events in the Swedish history of music, as well as occurrences in the art music of this country. It is furthermore an important task to try and persuade performing orchestras in Sweden to play the works of Swedish composers to a much larger extent than is the case today. I do not intend this as a scholarly work; it is simply my love of Music that made me think of setting up a homepage like this. |
