My Trip to Ireland March 16-25 2004

I traveled to Ireland on Tuesday, March 16th. After spending an uncomfortable evening on the floor in a London Airport I flew to Dublin on St. Patrick's Day morning. I stayed with my friend Simon, who I met this summer in Finland. After some "brekkie" (as the Irish call it) we headed into to town to see the madness and meet my friend Fidler from the states. I spent further time walking around the beautiful city, visiting the famous Guinness brewery and even found time to see an anti-Iraq war protest. Fidler and I caught a bush to Galway on the west coast to listen to Irish trad and experience some amazingly fierce sea wind. One night there and back to Dublin to pick up Simon on our way to Belfast to visit my the friend John. Belfast is also beautiful, but the tension from the troubles can still be felt and seen in the many murals decorating the western part of the city. I spent a lot of time walking around and hanging around with John, then returned home to Stockholm on Wednesday, March 25th. It was a long, eventful trip which I will never forget. Ireland is a beautiful, rapidly growing country and I am sure I will return some day in the future. Enjoy the pictures!
