RULES

Changes from the 2000 season:

To increase the variations of our teams:
1. A new component has been added - Tires.
2. For your choice of tires you can score points for Fastest Lap (2p) and Most Laps Led (1p).
3. You start with 45 million to afford the tires.

To stimulate changes and your participation:
4. When you sell a component you now get 85% of the value.
5. Increased amount of money for each point scored (120 000/point).

To increase the value of the drivers (request from last year):
6. Chassis and Engine does not score points for Fastest Lap or Most Laps Led.
7. Drivers score more points for the qualifying (positions 1 - 8).

Welcome to F1 Team Manager Game 2001.

The goal is to score points in the real F1 races.
How to score points is described below.
The points is also converted to money. You need money to buy components and also
to improve your team by selling bad components and buying better ones
as described under transfer below.

To create your team you have 45 million to start with. You have to buy:

* Two drivers
* One chassis
* One engine
* One set of tires

Of course it is impossible to buy everything you want this early
- you have to prove that you know about F1 first.
The better driver, the more expensive he is - as in real F1.
During the season I will change the prices after each race.
The prices are adjusted so that they will get closer and closer to the value they
should have according to the points earned by the components during the season.
The total price for the components is constant.
A good component will get more and more expensive...

POINTS SCORING
Each point corresponds to 120 000.

Qualification; Drivers
Your drivers scores points according to how they qualified.
Points are awarded to the top
eight.

POINTS
Position Drivers
Pole 8
2 7
3 6
4 5
5 4
6 3
7 2
8 1

RACE; Drivers, Chassis, Engine
Your drivers, chassis and engine scores points according to their racing results.

For chassis and engine you score points for both cars competing.
If you have a McLaren chassis and Häkkinen gets 2nd and Coulthard gets 4th you score 10+7 points
even if you don't have any of these drivers in your team. The points are for the chassis.
Also note that Arrows and Benetton are using a Supertec (Renault) engine, Jordan and BAR are using Honda,
Jaguar and Minardi are using Ford, Ferrari and Sauber are using Ferrari (Petronas are previos season's Ferrari).
If Arrows and Benetton cars ends up 1st to 4th you can only score for the two first cars, i.e. 12+10 points.
In your team you only have two chassis and engines (from one manufacturer).
The same rule applies for all combinations with the same engine.

POINTS
Position Drivers Chassis Engine
1 12 12 12
2 10 10 10
3 8 8 8
4 7 7 7
5 6 6 6
6 5 5 5
7 4 4 4
8 3 3 3
9 2 2 2
10 1 1 1

MOST LAPS LED; Driver, Tires
2 points are rewarded for the driver and 1 point to the tires which was in the lead most of the race.

FASTEST LAP; Driver, Tires
2 points each are rewarded for the driver and tires which had the fastest lap during the race.

Transfer

It is possible to upgrade your team during the competition.
For this you need money. Each point you score corresponds to
120 000.
After some races you will have enough money to be able to change whatever you are not satisfied with.
But you must always have two drivers, one chassis, one engine
and a set of tires.
If you sell you will only get
85% of the price of the component.
Remember that the price is changed after each race.

Note that new drivers that are replacing injured drivers are not possible to buy.
If, on the other hand, a driver from a "bad" team is given the opportunity to drive a better car
he will score points in the new car (like Trulli 1997).
It could be advisable to sell the injured driver anyway - depending on how long he won't drive.

Example: If you have 5,35 million in cash and want to change your engine worth 7 million
you will get 5,95 million (7 *0,85) for the old one and be able to buy a new engine worth
5,35+5,95=11,30 million.

It is the transfers that shows whether you are a good manager or not. Change in the right time !

Your changes have to be sent to me at 22.00 CET the day before qualification, usually Friday.
Either by e-mail or given to me personally.
The price list is only valid between the races specified in the list.
Unfortunately it can take several days before I can update the site (I need some vacation).
But it is equal for everyone.

Bank

You can take a loan in the F1TMG Bank.
For this you have to pay interest (of course).
The amount you can loan is depending on the difference between
the total value of your team and the leader's team.
The less points you have, the more money you can loan.
This rule has been added to prevent the the leaders to drift away without you being able to catch up.
To some it can seem unfair, but this is just a game and I want as many as possible to have a chance as long as possible.

You can loan up to 40% of the difference between you and the leader.

The interest rate is 25% per race.
The interest will be drawn from your cash after each race.
If you don't have enough money to pay, the debt will be increased to cover your need.
If this is not enough the component with the lowest value will be sold to 85% of its value.
It will be replaced with the first component of the same type where you will get enough money to pay your interest. i.e. with a value less than 85% of the original.
If you can't replace the component with the lowest value, the component with the second lowest value will be replaced and so on.

Since the value of the teams will change, so will the maximum amount you can have as debt.
If you are successful in a race the value of your team will increase (getting closer to the top).
This can lead to your debt being greater than the maximum debt you can have.
If this happens your debt will be reduced to the maximum debt by reducing your cash.

Your debt will be reduced as much as possible after each race.

Disqualifications

If a driver is being disqualified after I have published the new pricelist, the list is still valid.
But, I will take the disqualification into account for the next pricelist.
If a driver has all his points withdrawn like Schumacher a couple of years ago,
I will only disqualify him for the race he made the mistake in.

GOOD LUCK !
