We hope the pictures below will help to illustrate our excursion program

One of the white beaches on Cayo Levantado
Cayo Levantado, also well known as the island where the commercials for Bacardi Rum were filmed. The island has wonderful white beaches and clear water as well as untouched vegetation. A relaxing paradise in the Caribbean sea south of Samaná. Samaná is famous for the large amount of coconut palms growing on the peninsula. Lunch is included in our excursion to Samaná, but if you like seafood you should definetly take the opportunity to taste some of the fresh lobsters, shrimps and shellfood that the dominicans prepare on the island, straight from the fishing boats.
The fortress in Puerto Plata
The fortress in Puerto Plata is a landmark that remids us of the fact that it was to the Dominican Republic Christopher Columbus arrived in 1492 when he thought he had discovered India. He arrived to the north coast of and is supposed to have said: "This must be the most beautiful place in the world." He named the island Hispaniola which meant "Isla Española". The Fortress in Puerto Plata was erected before the spanish conquerors moved south and made Santo Domingo the capital of the Dominican Republic.
A cigar manufacturer in Puerto Plata The monument of the plane crash outside Cabarete
The cigar manufacturers in Puerto Plata are rolling cigars from different types of tobacco leaves with an extraordinary precision. On our excursion you have the possibility to try some of the cigars made in this small factory.
In 1996 a German passenger plane crashed in the sea outside Cabarete only ten minutes after take off. In Puerto Plata a monument was raised by the sea to honour the memory of all the people who died in the crash.
Boat trip on the way to Laguna Gri Gri Natural Beach with caves
On the way to Playa Grande we pass through Laguna Gri Gri with its impressive mangroves. This is one of the many special characters the dominican nature can offer us, both when it comes to vegetation and animal life.
Between Laguna Gri Gri and Playa Grande there are several small beaches that can only be reached by boat. We stop by a "natural swimming pool", a calm bay without currents where you can take a bath from the boat.
The border between the Dominican republic and Haiti is always very busy
A very intensive trading takes place on the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The difference between the two countrys shows as soon as we get to Dajabón. A small river only a few metres wide separates the two countrys and many people are crossing it to do different types of trading. Gasoline to the few trucks that transport people and goods in Haiti is very hard to find and private cars almost doesn't exist. As soon as we pass the border to Haiti, we enter a different world. The vegetation, roads, people and mentality change drastically as soon as the bus has passed the bridge. Haiti used to be one of the richest colonies in the Caribbean, but now it's one of the poorest countries in the world.
Clotheswashing is normally done in the rivers in Haiti
The whole system in Haiti is more african than caribbean. Almost the whole population is black since Haiti became independant from the French. A common sight is the women who are washing clothes in the rivers along the roads. More than ten kids in the same family is more a rule than exception and electricity only exists in some of the most important buildings. Few people can read and newspaper are only distributed in the capital and a few other places.
Voodooshow in haiti Playa Grande outside Rio San Juan
Voodoo is still practised in Haiti even though the different Christian churches are getting stronger in the country. On the excursion to Haiti you will among other things have the possibility to witness an intensive voodooshow that will not leave you indifferent. It's a very strong experience as the ritual includes biting the head off a chicken.
After the boattrip through the mangroves of Laguna Gri-Gri and lunch outside Rio San Juan we bring you to Playa Grande for a relaxing afternoon at the beach. Playa Grande is one of the longest beaches on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. The many choral reefs makes the trip ideal for snorkling.
