”HASSE´S BARN” will not be seen from the outside. I ask about the way to ”Hasse´s Barn” in a petrol-station at the back of beyond. I got the answer that I´m just 82 feet from the entrance. That´s just to drive around the corner. The house,which the man is pointing to, looks like a storehouse. You enter into senseless place,which blows everything with amazement. -Yes, it´s more like Texas comparing to Texas, says Hasse when he shows me ”the reliable barn”.The barn with tables laid for a party for 1.200 people. I don´t believe my eyes.That´s like standing at the mainstreet in a ”western-city” with faked faces of houses all around the four walls. A Languid Audience P.J. Proby is not going to sing in this huge room. He will appear in a smaller place beside the huge room.That place is almost filled to capacity. I can notice two cowboy-hats from the mixed audience.It soon seems to be a more languid audience that I ever could believe.When P.J. Proby is introduced from the stage,there´s no ”Texas-exulation” from the audience.It´s more like a polite Swedish applause. What we got is a ”The show must go on” because of that P.J. is snuffling and got a flu. He is breathless in a Elvis-medley. You can´t avoid feeling sorry for him.Not enough with that - he even have to ”fight” against the sound-equipment even. It is definitely not of ”Texas-class”. He even have to crouch down to the edge of the stage to make it possible to hear himself better. - I can not hear the girls,he complained and he means the fresh girls in the choir, which has strengthen ”Kvinnoböske Band”, as even we can hardly not hear. But, already in the third song,he strikes up with ”Hold Me”.You realize that this man, in good condition, got vocal powers which is dynamite. I am looking forward to come to another performance again -if only he get through the coughing and the flu. Yesterday, first of all he was worth a medal for valour.

So - the 10th of April 1999 was the opening night of "Catch My Soul" in Sweden, played in Swedish by Swedish actors .For me it started with a telephone- call from GÖRAN ENGMAN. Even Göran is an old fan of P.J. PROBY.He is even an established actor here in Sweden and is the initiator for the Swedish production of "CATCH MY SOUL" Of cause he is even acting in the musical. The Swedish version of "Catch My Soul" includes s the same songs as "The Rock Othello" Photos : Björn Lund The musical started in Uppsala the 10th of April. Uppsala is situated about 60km north of Stockholm) The last play was the21st of May and P.J. shared the last evening of "CMS" together with the audience

I called P.J.Proby the 2nd of April .He said that he was impressed about his fans ,coming a long way from Belgium ,Holland , Scotland and Sweden for his performance in North Wales,Rhyl !!! He is sending his best greetings to you all and thanks you . He really appreciated that you came !! He regret that he was not feeling allright after the performance. Jim said that he has not feeling so bad since he stopped drinking 1992 !! Now he is feeling okay again . I said that we all agree that he did a fantastic performance and he gave everything to 100 % !! P.J. told me that the arranger did not included the introduction of him in the price , before he entered the stage.HE HAD TO DO IT BY HIMSELF !! I said that I could not guess that the voice belonged to him. - " I am a good actor" P.J. answered laughing . Proby did a very long interview for a radio-station in Stockholm,which plays mostly music from the 60´s. It is called Vinyl07. The 26th of May, P.J. Proby had a meeting with a Swedish publisher in Stockholm. He will take his time to read the 800 pages of the manuscript.
