990903 Daily Planet signing a new record deal!
We are very happy to announce that we are right now closing a deal with the Swedish record company Eternity Records! Our first single is set to be released sometimes early next year, to be followed by a full length CD, hopefully during the spring. The last years has been a long period of writing new material and arguing with our first record company about lot´s of things that I won´t bore You with here! However, we have come even stronger out of this, and the new album will be great, and Eternity seems to have a lot of faith in Daily Planet, just as we (and hopefully You!)do! We would like to thank everybody that has been waiting patiently since "The Tide" was released in -96!!! Keep visiting these pages for more news about the new records! // Johan and Jarmo
990823 Four new DP songs in the audio archive!
Finally You can hear some new material from Daily Planet, we have added four new tracks to the audio archive. Please note that those are just demos of our new material, and are not entirely represental of the forthcoming releases! They are put there just to give You a glimpse of what´s to come... //Johan

990618 Daily Planet continues to write new material
Two more new songs has been made, co-working with The master of synthesizer programming, Jouni Ollila of Little blue men, Pouppée Fabrikk and Wärk, also the little brother of Jarmo. We´re doing the vocal tracks on the 21st of June, and then it won´t be long until You can hear some of it here, in the audio archive! //Johan
990527 Working with Mats Karlsson a big step in the right direction!
Two new songs were produced in Stockholm, May 21-22. Producer Mats Karlsson added a lot to the already great songs "Love tear us apart" and "Here she comes", such as a more danceable beat, maybe a little less sounds and definitely a lot more radio-oriented! BUT, the light, sweepy DP-soundscape that You all know (and like?) is still there! We will do the vocal tracks as soon as we can, and then You will find the songs in the audio archive, just be patient...
The new songs will also be presented to the different record companies interested in us, and hopefully, there will be a new DP album out for You! Maybe not in a near future, (we don´t want to do the same misstakes we did with Energy Rekords), but we´ll let you know on these pages what is happening.
Take care! //Johan

980415 Cooperation with Energy Rekords finally to an end!
Throughout the entire time Daily Planet has been signed to Energy Rekords there has been nothing but trouble says Jarmo in Daily Planet.
- Anyone who has been involved with Energy Rekords probably knows just what we are talking about! Sad as it is the "cooperation" has now ended (it will probably take a while before new material will be arriving to all the fans, just be patient!). The band is looking for a new deal on a "real" record label that takes care of their signed artists. So if there is such a recordlabel who is seriously interested in a deal with Daily Planet, send a mail to the webmaster and your message will be forwarded to the band and a demotape with the new material will be sent to you.
980414 Still Going strong!! (with a minor facelift)
At last the pages are up again... i have been having various problems with all kinds of stuff related to technology that I wont bore you with at this time, the most important thing is that the pages are UP and they are still going strong!! :) The general idea with the facelift is that the pages should be easier to read and faster to load... I'm right now working on the other pages so have patience, they will be up in a near future (not 1 year like the last time).
And yes.. they will be updated with all the latest news about Daily Planet (no I'm not kidding)... so keep in touch and surf on in on a daily basis because this site will continue to exist on the web..!
980404 Jarmo releases long awaited Cult group project: La Vogue.
The release of the La Vogue album "Rebirth of the Century" is now a fact. Read more about the band on the Synthphony Records or La Vogue homepage. I asked Jarmo:
Why this release with a totally different band and on a new label?
- Well, it is really just a fun thing to do because it was the first band I've ever played in. The other guys did a lot of songwriting back in the old days, parts of the record were written fourteen (14!!) years ago and the biggest work was already done! All we had to do was to freshen up the songs and volià we had a La Vogue album!
Does this mean the end of Daily Planet??
- No, no, not at all!! Daily Planet is a great band and so is La Vogue, why quit either of them when they are both terrific?!?
Well who can argue with that?? :)
980209 Daily Planet writing new material!
According to Jarmo Ollila in Daily Planet they have been working on new material the latest month. The new songs are more mature with a melancholic touch. The sound has emerged to a natural 80's synthpop sound without the characteristic dry drum/synth arrangements. Jarmo says that they have been working even harder on the melodies and the harmonies, you will find them even better than on the "Tide" album. (How do they do that?) :)
No release dates are available due to recent problems with the label Energy Rekords.
