KISS FOREVER-IN SWEDEN
Welcome to my "KISS FOREVER-IN SWEDEN" page. My intention with this pageīs to show all of you what the Swedish press have been writting about the band since they first visited us in 1976(the magical year). The first text is about KISS back in the -70:s, and it covers the bands first visit in Sweden and a lot of other things...such as the releasing of "The Originals". Have a fun reading!
Between the years -76 and -78 KISS was the biggest and the most popular band in the world. They sold more records than anybody else and they also realesed more records than anybody else.
1976 "Destroyer" came out. The record was quite different from the bands earlier record. Behind this differences stod the producer Bob Ezrin. For example "Destroyer" includes keybords, string instruments and Brooklyns boychoir! But the result was excellent. The crunch of "God of thunder" mixed with the violin-strings of "Beth" and the pure rock nīroll of "Detroit rock city" all seemed to fit togheter. Almost every songs on "Destroyer" are classics. KISS was here to stay!
In Europe more and more people discovered the band. In short, a 27 days tour was made through Europe and here in Sweden they held three conserts, one in Stockholm, one in Gothenburg and one in Lund. The swedish press wrote down KISS as much as they could. They thought that the band were nazists because the to S:s in the bands logo. It didnīt help despite that Paul explained hundreds of times that both he and Gene had jewish parents. In Germany the band wasīt allowed to use the real logo. Back in the states they started to repeat the show theyīve always had wanted to do. Of course it was about "The destroyer show" that was going to visit about 40 citys during two months.
The KISS army growed strong during this year, so did the market with KISS-things. You could run into all kind of things with the name KISS written on it. Some examples are, KISS pinballmachines, KISS-dolls, KISS-masks and KISS-lunchboxes. The company behind all this was Bothwell Industries.
Soon came a comic from Marvel Comics about KISS, it became the companys greatest success ever.
The same year Casablanca realesed "The Originals". It was a box containing the three first records and some extra stuff, a KISS history book about the band, six cards(it was the same cards as you recived if you joined the KISS army and a big decal with the armys logo. "The originals" sold incredibly well and Casablanca had to print a second edition with the text "second printing". After selling about 250 000 ex they decided to not print anymore and today "The originals" has a great value to KISS fans all over the world.
