I like to "get high" J

So you want to know what wakeboarding is all about? Well it's a new sport and it is still in it's infancy and like all young sports it will go through a searching phase before it settle into what it will become. Take a boat with a giant wake, pull behind it a hybrid board - like a small surfboard with footstraps combined with a waterski, throw behind it some hard cuts, huge airs, smacking turns, giant spinning flips……bake for eight hours a day in the sun and earn millions. Now for the competition part. Competing in wakeboarding consists of two events.

The Freestyle event when each contestant shall have 2 passes of 25 seconds each to perform a maximum of five tricks per pass. Each trick may be used only once. Rider may do a sixth trick at the end of the second pass. This trick must be identified as the "Wildcard" on the attack sheet. The "Wildcard" maneuver will be scored subjectively, style points only. There will be no penalty for completing only five tricks. The tally for each pass will consist of the points values of the tricks successfully completed and the style points awarded per pass. The contestant is allowed one fall or throw of the handle before entering the course. A contestant's second fall or handle throw ends the trick pass whenever it occurs.

Now for the Expression session which means that each contestant will be judged on the individual routine. This routine begins when the rider leaves the starting dock , and ends when the rider either return to the dock or falls. The contestant isn't allowed a fall or throw of the handle before entering the course. The course begins the moment the rider leaves the dock. It is the riders responsibility to communicate with the driver to be pulled at the proper speed. There will be no rerides. If the contestant falls it means the end of the routine whenever it occurs. There are no maximum or minimum number of tricks that must be performed. Each contestant is free to performe whichever maneuvers in whatever order he or she desires. The pass should represent the personal expression and creativity of the rider. Contestants are encouraged to demonstrate the range of their abilities. Every move the rider does during the routine will be evaluated in the scoring. This includes any moves done when the boat turns around at one end of the lake. The object for the Expression session is to determine the best freerider on the given day of competition. There will be no attack sheet for the pass. The tally for the pass will consist of stylepoints scoring only.

So what equipment do you need to wakeboard? Well to wakeboard the first things you need is a boat, a wakeboard, a skirope, a lake and 'course a driver. You can also use a wetsuit and a skiwest to prevent injuries. Other cool stuff is baordshorts that gives you the cool look and a skylon or pylon, that gives you huge air. The pylon is an extention so you can tie your rope 8' high. It's kind'a like getting high….legally.
