Land Units

Peasents and Peons
Peasents and Peons are the backbone of Warcraft2. They build, repair, mine gold, harvest lumber, and attack. They have no armor and their attack is very wimpy.

Footmen and Grunts
Footmen and Grunts are the first worthwhile attacking and defending characters, though we wouldn't say that they were
wimpy. They come prepared for hand to hand combat.

Elven Archers and Troll Axethrowers
Elven Archers and Troll Axethrowers are not trained for hand to hand combat. They have a long range but until they are upgraded they are wimpy. They are best in groups. They are then upgraded to Elven Rangers and Troll Berserkers, and from there you upgrade their certain abilities.
Knights and Orges
Knights and orges are like grunts and footman, but on a much higher level. They are the main infantry when fighting ground battles. They can be upgraded to Paladin's and Orge-Mage's with certain spells.

Ballistas and Catapults
Ballistas and Catapults have the longest range in attacking. They are the most powerful(except for some spells.) They are very slow and have weak armor. Their one weakness is that if an infantry is close up to them or is moving, they will not damage the infantry.

Mages and Death Knights
Mages and Death Knights are the main spellcasters that are agressive instead of passive like Paladins and Orge-Mages. They possess strong magical powers that can be aquired by upgrading. The Mages are students from the Conjurers in Warcraft1. The Death Knights are assembled from the dead bodies of Knights.

Dwarven Demolition Squads and Goblin Sappers
These characters are on a suicide mission. They are a team of two and three. They carry high power explosives and are used to demolish buildings and can be used to damage characters at a minimal level.

Buildings

Town Halls and Great Halls
The Town Halls and the Great Halls are where you can train Peasents and Peons. The Peasents and Peons return gold and can return lumber here. These buildings can later be upgraded to give you more lumber, gold and oil, and so you can build more buildings for more units and upgrades.

Farms and Pig Farms
Farms and Pig Farms feed your units and boats. You have to have a certain amount of farms to accommodate your units and boats. Usually a farm will supply them with enough food grown for four units or boats. If you have no farms you have no guys. You will loose!

Barracks
The Barracks is where all of your infantry(Knights, Archers, Footmen ect.)units come out of. This building trains the units so after you have begun the training process you may have to wait for about 30 seconds before they will appear next to the Barracks. Ballitsas and Catapults however take longer
.

Elven and Troll Lumber Mills
These buildings add to your lumber production. The Peasents and Peons can return lumber here. These buildings also make your lumber production higher. They also provide the way for Archers and Axethrowers. You can also upgrade the Archers and Axethrowers here.

Blacksmiths
They are mainly for upgrading armor, however they also allow you build Ballistas, Catapults, Knights and Orges.

Gnomish Inventor and Goblin Alchemist
These two buildings are very important. They give you three different units. The Flying Machine and Goblin Zeppelin are two air units. You can also aqquire Submarines and Giant Turtles. You can also aqquire Dwarven Demolition Squads and Goblin Sappers.

Towers
These towers are massive important in Warcraft2, and the prime gaurd of your town. You have to put them in strategic places to protect you. The Watch Towers do nothing accept watch farther if you have fog on. You upgrade them to Guard Towers. These fire arrows and can fire at flying units. The next upgrade is to the Cannon Tower. These fire cannon balls and are more powerful but cannot fire at flying units.

Stables and Orge Mounds
These buildings do nothing but allow you to train Knights and Orges.

Churches and Altar of Storms
These buildings allow you to do a number of things. First they allow you to upgrade knights and orges into paladins and orge-mages. You do this at the building. They also allow you to research a number of passive spells.

Mage Tower and Temple of the Damned.
These buildings allow you to train Mages and Death Knights at the building. They also allow you to upgrade the spells of these units. These are the destructive spells.

Griffin Aviary and Dragon Roost
