HI These few points are meant to keep you out of trouble and not get you into trouble, best of luck to all trainees you’re going to have a great time. 1, BE FLEXIBLE Your IAEA traineeship is an adventure and possibly a once in a lifetime chance for you to do somthing completely different from your normal routine. Think about some of things you want to experience and make plans accordingly, but don’t start your traineeship whith any preconceived iideas of what will happen. 2. HAVING HOST FAMILY PROBLEMS GET HELP This was never a problem for me, however i know that it does happen. First it is not your fault if for some reason you and your hosts have problems. What looks good on paper is not often the case in reality. Try to find some solution whitin your family first If you are still having problems talk to an IAEA local Alumni, or fellow trainee, they may be able to help smooth things out. If there is a major problems contakt your IAEA office and apply for transfer to another family. You will not gain anything from your traineeship if you are an unhappy trainee… 3. THE PUBLIC RELATIONS THINGS Relax, let your hair down and have a good time, but remember you may be the first Swede, Assie, Yankee etc. that your host family and their community has ever met. How you behave reflects not only what people will think of you personally, but also how they will peceive your country of origin and IAEA program. Hope you will have a great time… Emma Thinkler an past trainee in Sweden |
