Iam about to test the new 2d/3d graphic accelrator the diamond viper 330 with the riva-128 processor.
The card has (only)4mb onboard but uses the computers-ram-memory to accelrate in 800x600 resulotion.
I have already seen the card in action on a friends-
computer. And i must say that i was stunned by the result,in direct x 5 of course,thats what the card is made-to accelrate in.
the 2d accelration is also the best i have seen.
We tested the card with a direct x 5 testprogram,
and we compared it with righteous 3d and matrox-
with the power vr prossesor from nec(3dx extreme),
diamonds card crushed the other 2 cards by being-
100% faster in all the tests!.
We tested all cards on a amd k6 233mmx with 64mb-
ram,asus tx-97 motherboard with 512cache onboard.
An opengl(alpha) driver is availible,but it has lots of-
bugs,a new beta is expected to come soon.
We have of course tested the card with a few games,
written for direct x 5.
We tested jedi-kniht in 800x600resolution and it was-
very fast and smoth.
in all the other games we have tested the card out-
performs both righteous and matrox!.
this was just pre-testing i shall hardtest the card,
as soon as i get it in my hands.
