KISSARMY FAQ FILE (PART 3 OF 6)

By Alex Carranza, Andreas Hjarpne and Mark Kennedy

LAST UPDATE 1-MARCH-1996 VERSION 2.2

This discography was based on the earlier versions 1.0-1.3 of the KISSARMY discographies by Andreas Hjarpne and on a different discography written by Mark Kennedy. The two versions were merged, modified and updated by Alex Carranza.

Index:

1) Album ratings: These ratings were taken from the 15 October, 1993 issue of Goldmine magazine. Each of the original members rated the albums they worked on. These were combined with the results of a poll of KISSARMY members taken by David Clayton Tyson in February of 1994. The results were averaged and offer a somewhat useful basis for determining how good or bad each album is. Rating goes from 0 stars for worst to 5 stars for best.

2) RIAA: It states current album sales certification by the Recording Industry Association of America. Gold signifies sales of 500,000 units and Platinum sales of 1,000,000.

3) Billboard chart peak--pretty self explanatory, really.

4) Track listing uses the following: "A1" to signify track number 1 on side A (or side one). This is used in all albums released prior to 1983, when the first KISS compact disc was released. From then on tracks are listed just as they appear on the CD.

5) Albums marked (*) are not part of the "official" KISS discography, as they are either promos or imports (non-US issues).

This discography is divided in the following sections:

Please send corrections, additions or comments to the FAQ maintainer,

Track was added to the album by Neil Bogart against the band's wishes. Early 1980s PolyGram re-issues replace studio version of "Nothin' To Lose" with live one from ALIVE! (007).

Recorded during band's first trek to the West Coast. Two songs originally written for first album (Let Me Go) and 1973 demo (Watchin' You). See entries 002, 003 & 004. Most memorable photo shoot of any KISS album, in which everyone (except Gene) was drunk, including models and photographer assistants. Peter Criss was photographed while model was performing oral sex on him (no kidding). Of course, we can't see anything.

Very nice packaging included a KISS poster and record sleeve photography by Francesco Scavullo. Certain copies also included a KISS sticker. Record label features what is probably one of KISS' best photos, also by Mr. Scavullo: the band in black tunics with a silver-and-red KISS sign above them. All, of course, omited for CD release.

17 bands, most unknown even in Norway, contributed to this album, although DumDum Boys and Motorpsycho are two of that country's biggest rock bands. Linda Johansen, who appears here with Grunt People is actually the editor of a norwegian soft-porn magazine. Track 17 (+) a non-cover bonus track sung in Norwegian, not listed on the album's back cover. The front cover looks like the cover of DYNASTY (023), but the Paul, Ace and Gene's faces have been replaced with plastic-dolls with make-up. Peter's face has been replaced by a small kitten (!).
