Zackīs world marked by rage and anger, but heīs also a very inteligent person who tries to affect the listener. Is often described as the mainscreamer who drives all his fans insane with his wild and angry voice. Zack was born in Long Beach, California 1970, and was raised by his mother. His very first band was called "Inside out". Zack said that he canalised all his pain through that band....and not be silent to a system who just see you as another one on the beach. Zack is the one who writes all the lyrics in RATM. His parents separated when he was one year old, and Zack stayed with his mother in Irving. Zackīs father, Beto de la Rocha was a member of the Chicano artcollective, which was called "Los four". Not long time after Beto got a mental breakdown, he and Zack destroyed all his paintings, made the last ten years. This was very painful for Zack who had loved the works of his dad. After this incident Beto got extremely religious and locked him self in for several weeks at a time, he read the bible and got stuck. He also forced Zack to do the same thing when he was visiting. In the end this got to much for Zack, who slowly and safe got away more and more from his father, but they kept a good relationship. Zack has recently said that his dad now make political paintings, he knows what his son does. RATMīs music has helped Beto to find his former identity. Zack lived in the probably whitest neighbouhood in the L.A. This wasnīt easy for Zack since the prejudice was like a wall to him. Peolple thought of him like a slave. This, and his dadīs mental breakdown, gave Zack a serious culturechock. The Zapatic-movement made deep impressions on Zack,and heīs still a member of the National Comission for Democracy in Mexico, among many other movements. He has organised a young group of college students to visit Chiapas, Mexico, and he tries as often as he can to help them himself.

Tom Morello is the guitar player in Rage. Heīs often called a "guitargenius", and adds weird, new sounds to Rage-songs. This creates an extra dimension to the music, a sound which makes you recognize him at once. Many also says that heīs the greatest guitar player of all categories. He was born in N.Y 1964, and grew up in Libertyville, Illnois. Tomīs dad was a member of the Mau Mau gerilla, which relised Kenya from Brittish ruling. His mothers name is Mary Morello, she is the founder of Parents for Rock and Rap, which is an anti-censorship organisation. At the start of Lollapalooza, she introduced Rage as the "best motherfuckinī band on the tour". Tomīs parents separated early and peacefully. His first experience with guitar, was when he heard a KISS song that he wanted to play. He thought he might would be able to channel his rage through the guitar, so he learned how to play. Tom went to Harvard University, where he majored in Social studies. When he was studying there he started to practise on his guitar almost obsessively, at least 2-4 hours a day. When he finished his studies all his friends got lawyers and doctors, Tom instead went to L.A to form a rock band, and so he did. With his political knowledges and Zackīs anger they make the perfect couple, specially when they are writing songs.

Tim Bob is the bass player of the band. His skill is obvious in the songs "Bullet in the Head" and "Clear the Lane". He listens to "Inside out, Zackīs previous band. The very first time Rage played together ever was in one of Timmyīs friends livingroom, this must have given tem taste for more, since they after this continued seriously. Zack was the one who introduced Tom to the baseplaying thing, he used to play guitar. Timīs father was an engineer at NASA, and his mom was a mathematic genious, before her brain was spoiled with an braintumour, this also spoiled her career. When Tim had reached third grade, his mother didnīt even understand simple mathematic problems which he brought home from school. Since the sicknes made it very tough for the family, his dad divorced from the mom, and remarried. The mom moved to her sisters in Sacramento, to get better care. This was the end for Timīs "perfect" family. Tim releases his rage trough poetry, art and music, but this also shows a darker side of Tim which he doesnīt like. Timīs, Zackīs, Tomīs and Bradīs rage sometimes get too much, and that has caused violent argues which has sometimes got fysical. The band broke temporary up for a couple of months 94. By this time the guys had written 28 new songs to the album which was to be released fall 94, but since they couldnīt get along they just threw all the material even some that was recorded. If anybody wonders why Tim changed name to Tim Bob on the new record, well itīs cause heīs gonna change name on every new record....thatīs really really weird. The bandīs first "gig" took place in one of Timīs friends livingroom. They only played 5 1/2 songs, but that was enough, after that they decided that they had something going .

Brad is the drummer of the band. He was born in Portland, Oregon 1969, lived in Washington for a while, but later he settled down in southern California. He was listening to Led Zeppelin, The Who and John Bonham before he heard the Six Pistols, which really changed him. Heīs still working on the grief after his dadīs death soon before Lollapalooza. Brad saw how money destroyed his dad under the time before he died, and that made him be greatful to the things in life that doesnīt cost anything. If you look at the caracters in the band is Zack the stormy member, Tom is the extremely smart guy who is extremely left, and Brad is the man with the heart. He has once said "I wish i could be a fuckinī pig". Brad hasnīt got any political opinion, even if Zack and Tom has affected him to left. He is only in it for the music, which is a direct contrary to Zack.
