aytracing is a hobby of mine, but on a very amateur level. I use 3d
studio, i think that it is one of the best programs for 3d design. It has
a wide selection of tools, nurbs, raytraced materials and a lot of other
powerful stuff. Another strength is the big selection of plugins like genesis,
4dpaint, claystudio, outburst particle system and many more of the very
best plugins imaginable.
I think one weaknesses with 3d studio is that the picture quality tend
to be lower then in some competitor programs. Programs like lightwave and
softimage.
