Catolic chapel of Saint Rock in the kontumac probably existed there from its establishing.Todays one was built some hundred years after, in 1836 on the place of the first one.Plans were made by zemun constructor Jozef Felber and it was shaped in baroque style, unambiciosly but consistently. Inside it is splited on six compartiments and beside the main entrance it has six doors, three on each facade which clearly explicits its quarantinian character. |

Nikolajevska church was built in 1752 on the place of an older serbian church which was made of wood and covered with straw. ) On the west side is two storeyed bell-tower with metal cap. It is shaped and built in baroque style like many other churches in Vojvodina and Military Border in 18th century. Interior of the church, beside the tall and richly carved iconostasis with icons of Dimitrije Bacevic,has wall paintings, icons and flags,as well as the other inventory significant for cultural and industrial history of Zemun. The flags of Zemuns esnafs are speccialy interested. The church was renovating during the time.The original bell-tower,burned in fire in 1867.,was rebuilt in 1870.The building represents the oldest preserved serbian church in old core of Zemun as well as the sagnificant cultural and historical monument . During the two centuries old Turkich reign-rule in Zemun existed mosque, most probably in XVI century because its minaret figures on Prandsteter aquarelle from 1608.It was building made of hewed rock size 10*10 m with three batches of windows and its cupola was covered with gold.Mosque existed on the place of todays catolic church while in front of it, on the place of todays market, was cemetary.During the Turkish period there werent any catholic churches in Zemun because there were no citizens in town.As soon as the austrian authorities occyped town german inhabitants started to arrive in this areas. |

Blazene Device Marije church-is former mosque which was destroyed in 1784 and foundation stone for the new church was put on the same place next year. Construction of the church lasted for almost a decade and it is finished and blessed in 1795. Church is shaped in the ampir style with retared baroque elements.Its interested that church is reversed to the east and not to the west whats usual for catholic churches.Catholic church was restored in 1817. The first jewish synagogue was raised in Zemun in the middle of XVIII century and on the place of that older building in 1850 was built new one.Building is shaped in the style of romantism. |

Bogorodicina church-On west side of old city core which had been evolving since the beginning of XVIII century in 1775 was put the foundation stone for the new ortodox church.Church was blessed in 1783. It was built in three compartiments.Over naosom is baroque cube.At the first time,without the bell-tower, it kept some traditional serbian-byzantin elements, like others older serbian churches in Vojvodina, but at the end of that same century it got todays shape.At the end of XVIII century the bell-tower was built on the west side and in 1880 it was thoroughly reconstructed.Bogorodicina church is the largest temple in the old city core of Zemun.It has reachly carved iconostasis which was made by Arsenije Markovic with icons painted by Arsenije Arsa Todorovic. |

Franciscan convent-is placed on the corner of Svetosavska street and Strosmajerova street with the church dedicated to Sait John the Baptist.Church and the convent was raised on the place of an older buildings which had been destroyed in the fire four decades earlier in 1453 Turks had destroyed big convent and the church so that Saint John Capistran with victorius army came into Zemun.In 1756 on todays place was built church and convent and in 1790 fire destroyed everything.Finaly in 1838/1839 the new church and the convent was finished. |

Fenek monastery-nearby village Jakovo was founded, according to saga, by the members of serbian despotic family Brankovic, probably in XV century.Todays church was built in 1797 in baroque style and dedicated to Sveta Petka.Iconostasis in it was made by piltor Aksentije Markovic and painter Petar Radosavljevic and the wall paintings are painted by Dimitrije Petrovic.After failure of the first serbian mutiny in the monastery stayed Karadjordje and the others mutiny leaders, and the significant role monastery Fenek had in the preparation of the second serbian mutiny.Monastery endured great destruction in both World Wars and only recently it was reconstructed and rebuilt. Svetotroicina church in higher part of city was built in 1842 by the plans of constructor Jozef Felber.Iconostasis was painted by artist Zivko Petrovic |
