Nikolajevska church It is finished in 1752 on the place of an older church, which was made of wood and covered with straw. On the west side is two storeyed bell-tower with metal cap. It is shaped and built in baroque style like many other churches in Vojvodina and Military Border in 18tth century. Interior of the church, beside the tall and richly carved iconostasis with icons of Dimitrije Bacevic,has wall paintings, icons and flags,as well as the other inventory significant for cultural and industrial history of Zemun. The flags of Zemuns esnafs are speccialy interested. The church was renovated during the time.The original bell-tower,burned in fire in 1867.,was rebuilt in 1870.The building represents the oldest preserved serbian church in old core of Zemun as well as the sagnificant cultural and historical monument . |
