Zemun Park
On the land of the
former kontumac In 1880 was founded little park which later outgrowed in big complex
of todays City park.Park is well ordered and in it can be seen specimens of rare trees
like : za ovo ces morati da se obratis nekom biologu - prim.R.A.In park itself there are
Kontumac chapels built in baroque style which used to serve to the religions needs of
travelers who were in the quarantine.
Ortodox church “Sveti Arhandjel Gavrilo” was built in 1786 by donation of famous
merchant Teodor Tosa Apostolovic and its iconostasis was painted in 1830/1831 by artists
Dimitrije Bratolglic and Konstantin Lekic.In front of the church in 1993 was placed
monument-hackar act of armenian autor Rumen Nalbadjan.
Catolic church of Saint Rock built Constructor Jozef Felber in 1836/1837 on the place of
older chapel from 18 th century. Behind the church there is a memorial pillar exposed in
1933 in a memoriam of one hundred years of presence of famous franch poet Alfons Lamartin.
In central part of the park there are two more monument - sculpture :”Bombas”act
of sculptor Vanja Radaus and “Talac” act of sculptor Boris Kalin. |
