After the wreck of Avarian  authority Zemun was ruled by French, Bulgarians,Byzantins and then Hungarians. In connection with definitive settling of Slovens who were mentioned in this areas also in VI century there appeared slovenian toponym Belgrade (in 878) and many years later Zemun (In XII cenury by the chronicals).

Name Zemun is slovenian provenance, it means soil and in history it was inducted by the writers Jovan Kinam and Nikita Honijat. By the end of XI century, in time of the first hungarian rule in this areas through Zemun passed actors of the first (in 1096), and later the second (in 1147) and third Crusade (in 1189).It’s interesting to cite that writer of book about Crusade noted Zemun as Mallevila. Many people think that’s french toponym issued on the beginning of IX century during the short Frank rule.

XII century was filled with warsbetween Byzantium (Eastern Roman Empire) and Hungary about the predominance on this areas. In that conflict Zemun had been destroyed and rebuilt again and again.

At the end of that century Byzantium rule was ultimately replaced with Hungarian rule and by the end of XIV century arised peaceful period with prosperity of feudal cities.

Breach of Turks opened new chapter in history of this areas.Under their pressure Belgrade and armed cities in Srem get major importance, especially after the wreck of Serbian state in 1459. Uncertain situation lasted until the famous foray of sultan Sulejman II whose army after the siege of Belgrade from the souther side overpassed in Srem and came in Zemun. After the persisting defence of sajkasi? Ahead with Sokobalic brothers, Zemun failed down in hands of invaders from the east on July 12th 1521.In coquered regions turkish feudal system was established, the new administrative and juridical organisation.Through administrative point of view Zemun belonged.

To Srem’s "sandzak"  which was in 1541 part of Budim’s "pasaluk" and residence of similar "nahije" Due to inventory in 1566/1567 it can be claimed that on the area of Zemun’s "nahije" were placed today’s villages:Batajnica, Banovci, Bezanija, Dobanovci, Surcin and Jakovo, as well as settlements which don’t exist nowdays and which names are preserved ( Kumsa near Jakovo,Kamedin Near Surcin,Zivac near Progar…).
