Todays Masarik square was called The grain square until 1935 and there was market for cereals, pigs etc.Soon after the end of II World War trade of cereals was ruptured so on the place of Masarik square settled fish market and green market was expanded.Today this place is asphalted, provided with workbenches and together with Youth square represents complex of Zemun’s market. Market has some 500 workbenches and at least that many of intermediaries. Flee market in Zemun moved in early sixties from the place nearby Cvetkova market wherefrom it was relegated.It took some 10 square km. on new green market on the suburb of city.By decree of new city govermant in 1982 it was revoked so on that place left only green market but few years later it came back. Today in Gornja Varos also exists green market nearby Sava Kovacevic settlement as well as the big green market near highroad, called Kvantas. |
