What is Muay Thai?

Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand and involves kicks and punches. Muay Thai is perhaps most famous for its merciless low kicks, but in Muay Thai you also use elbows, knees and fists.

History of Muay Thai

No one really knows the origins of Muay Thai, but it is believed to have its origin in Thailand and is said to have been practised there for a very long time. Muay Thai was practised by the army to keep their enemies at a distance and keep them off balance. Muay Thai was also used by civilians as self-defence. At this time Muay Thai was done with bare hands and training was undertaken in special schools or camps all around the country.
